Newbie's concerns on bass setup done by professional

I don't have that book but I will follow John Carruthers's instructions again myself. And I won't go to that "repair" store ever again.

Newbie's concerns on bass setup done by professional

Indeed. My mistake (I am not used to Imperial System, hence the mistake). I meant 0.015" and 0.06" (in fact the Grooveetech kit set that I have doesn't have 0.15" and 0.06" feelers anyways). I will follow Mr. Carruthers's instructions (skipping the nut height adjustment). Thanks for the...

Newbie's concerns on bass setup done by professional

Hi everyone, I took my new bass (Fender Precision Player Series) to local guitar repair store. I told them I was a newbie and they checked out my bass and said it required complete setup. By the way before taking my bass there, I actually had tried to do the neck, intonation and bridge action...

Pickguard is not touching the body completely

So I brought my bass to a guitar repair store in my town for complete set-up, where they also replaced the white pickguard with a gold anodized Fender 57 pickguard I had ordered in the meantime. It looks better than the white one. However if the tone of that golden color was brighter, it...

Help.... Newbie wanting to learn BG

Another newbie here. I was also wondering where to start. Thanks for the thread, this will be helpful for me as well. I have checked out both Josh's and Scott's YouTube channels. I think I will subscribe to Josh's online course for beginners. After creating a bit of foundation, I might hire a...

Pickguard is not touching the body completely

Thanks again, all. So Thomann told me replacement of the whole bass is also an option but they also stated that replacement will not be available till 25.10.2022 I am guessing there is a supply chain shortage. I checked their website and all the right-handed non-b-stock Player Series P-Basses...

Pickguard is not touching the body completely

Really? I thought they are legally bound to put the "b-stock" info on the product if so. The one I bought was supposed to be new not b-stock.

Pickguard is not touching the body completely

Thanks all for the replies. Yes this is a new bass bought fresh from Thomann. I had contacted them today in the meantime and they told me they will open a request to get a new pickguard from Fender. And they told me this might take some time. Now that I am reminded with the weird pickup tilt...

Pickguard is not touching the body completely

Ah I see. Checking out this video on setting up pickup height (along the direction from knobs to fingers), the pickup in that video was also tilted along the other direction (from bridge to neck but opposite to mine). Maybe they can be a bit tilted in that direction as well. Nevertheless, that...

Pickguard is not touching the body completely

I am not very knowledgable on bass stuff but I thought the split pick-ups are designed to be tilted.

I think they are straight enough.

Pickguard is not touching the body completely

So I actually took out all screws and try to see if pickguard could be fit correctly: no luck. The pickguard itself is bended even when all screws are taken off. Either pickguard was mal-constructed and had that humpy-bumpy shape in the first place or it took that form later resting on that body...

Pickguard is not touching the body completely

Hi everyone, A new member here. Due to covid lockdown and everything, I decided to engage in some kind of indoor hobby this winter, so I decided to buy a bass guitar, which I did. I bought Fender Precision Bass (Player Series). My bass arrived last week and while inspecting it I noticed the...
