I use a VT Bass with mine and some of the eq "enhancing" pedals like the Bottom B, AC Bs Pre really help a lot.

Absolutely. There's a graphic eq pedal, a few "parametric" eq pedals (a clone of the BBE Sonic Stomp) and each amp is laid out almost exactly like the modeled head is. Most have bass, low-mid, hi-mid, treble and one or 2 extra knobs for things like contour or shape,etc...

It has both bass & treble controls so it is very tweakable. I'm messing with it now and to my ears it sounds fairly neutral. I have the volume at about 2 o'clock and the gain at around 9 o'clock and it's just barely starting to break up.

I have a V1 that I used regularly when I played live. It probably will add a little bit of grit to your tone when up past 1/2 way but before that, it stays fairly clean.

Boss generally does very well for effects but the amp sims tend to lack compared to the others.

It's kind of sad to see them go that way but between Mesa, Ampeg, Markbass and a handfull of others, there's not much room. Even Trace-Eliott who were major players at one time have pretty much fallen out of sight.

Sadly, I'm kinda stuck in 'name brand' land. The local shops only carry Boss, EH, MXR, etc... so there's no way to try out many 'boutique' pedals. In addition to that, I can't really afford to drop $200 + on a single effect pedal.
