As above, but Id also say experiment with putting compression after drive. The default is compression before, but I like it after, and didnt get on with compression until i started using it that way. I feel like the drive can respond to my dynamics better.

My number 1 is this Player Precision in buttercream, with a tort guard and vintage Neve style knobs. She's light at 8lbs 3oz. Ernie Ball extra slinky rounds. Best bass I've ever played.

3 is the magic number for me. A main bass a 5 string, and a backup/alternate tuning. Currently a Mexican Precision, a Squier Jag, and an Ibanez Mezzo 5.
