I want to get an American Standard P Bass, mainly because I like my friend's MIM P Bass so much. I want to get it used off ebay, but what is the likelihood that, with an American Standard P Bass, I could get a dud that, although not physically damaged, doesn't sound very good? Thanks.

Check out the "Jasmine" CD with Keith Jarrett and Charlie Haden. It is just piano and bass, so you will get to hear a lot of great bass playing.
