Going for walks, seeing some cool cars.

I have a TR6 but always loved those early Z cars. Tire choice makes a big difference in low-speed handling on these non-power steering cars, people put big tires on the Triumphs because they look good, then complain they're hard to park.

    Star Washers Questions/Pot installation

If the body of the pot isn't turning it's not a washer issue, and changing the washers won't change the feel. I assume turning the pot changes the output as expected. There is such as thing a low friction pots, that may be what's installed in it.

Filling a screw hole and redrilling/shifting screw hole a tiny amount - best method?

I'd plug the holes as others described, file/sand flush, then use an awl or small punch through the ring to mark the new holes. That should help align the new hole correctly. It can be helpful to use the same or very similar wood for the plug, so the drill is less likely to wander.

    DI/Preamp pedal? question

It looks like that preamp is voiced like an SVT, so you might like the Ampeg RocketBass combos if that’s the tone you want. But yeah, some kind of bass amp, probably in the 200-500 watt range, unless you get a more specific recommendation from that venue or someone who has played there.

    1x12 or 1x15?

I most often gig with a Berg 112 cab and it’s plenty, but that’s also with PA support. I could probably carry most rooms we play with that rig without a PA, but might lean toward another 12 for anything bigger. At a $300, along with the other ideas, you might look for a Bag End 15. I’ve seen...

    Opinions regarding distributing "donor" basses

You could check with Jail Guitar Doors, the org started by Wayne Kramer and other musicians. They take instrument donations, though not sure about that distance away (i think they're based in LA). https://www.jailguitardoors.org/ One benefit to this or another 503c group is that you could get a...

Amps that fit in gig bags

Depends on your gig bag, i can get a Genz-Benz Shuttle 6 into the large pocket of my Protec soft case.

    Scuff repair

I’ll 2nd the micro mesh, and if you use an automotive polish use it sparingly. It’s very easy to get white polish residue into corners that are difficult to clean out later.

    Danelectro Owners Club

I picked up this red Rumor bass on a pretty good deal on Reverb. It worked but needed some cleanup amd wiring help. I swapped in a cheap thunderbird pickup, made a new pick guard, and used all-new pots and parts from my stash to fully rewire, removing the noisy chorus circuit. With a...

Amp recommendations for household practice/recording/with a PA for small gigs

@agedhorse was the (a?) designer on the Genz Benz amps and still offers factory service on them, which can make them more viable than other 15+ year old amps, service-wise. When Genz Benz was shut down after the sale to Fender, Jeff started Genzler amps and Andy moved to Mesa, so both of those...

Another sad milestone in the death of notable music venues…

Younger people aren't drinking as much, and that's hurting a lot of clubs. In MN most clubs also sell THC drinks, which i'm sure helps, but people are generally not going out as much as in pre-covid times. We've lost several good bars around the Twin Cities in the last couple of years...

Amp recommendations for household practice/recording/with a PA for small gigs

They’re good quality, just a smaller maker, so don’t have the economy of scale that Fender or Ampeg do. Genzler gear is fairly popular with upright players, you might find one in that kind of shop, that’s where I was able to play one. I suggested that one specifically because lots of places...

Amp recommendations for household practice/recording/with a PA for small gigs

A 110 or 112 cab should give plenty of volume for that kind of gig and band. The Ampeg RB112 would work, or look at the Genzler Magellan 350 combo as an upgrade pick, that would let you add another cab for more volume if you ever change to a live drummer.

Country bass lesson -roots and fifths - Ryan Madora

In my youth i thought country bass lines were boring, but i've come to really appreciate their precision and economy. You can do quite a lot in the song with good feel, different octaves, and transition notes. A good trick i've used a couple of times on our more country-flavored songs where i'm...

Going for walks, seeing some cool cars.

That looks like the little city cars that I’ve seen in Amsterdam, but I’ve never seen one in the US.
