Yeah, that's sort of what I figured. I guess I could get some sort of amplified noise out of one of those things, but probably wouldn't sound very good. We go to a lake for vacation every summer and I'd love to be able to jam out on the pier.

Oh ok I was wondering about that. I am currently playing an upright in a jazz trio so I'm really looking to get pretty close to that sound. I'll have to read up on the silver rumblers, but I'm betting I'll end up staying with pahoehoe for a while.

Wow, I feel like I've been reading all day and I'm still in Part 2 of the thread. I just received my acoustic, fretless mahogany Ubass earlier this week and I'm going to try my first re-stringing of the stock strings. Obviously I have a few wraps on the posts by now and that terrifies me, haha...

Nooooooooooo just checked the tracking on my ubass. It's at UPS in Lanexa, KS. They just happen to be in the middle of a snow storm. Right now it says scheduled delivery by the end of day on Monday (my birthday) , but I'm guessing that may change.
