    Ampeg SVT-410HLF vs SVT-410HLF Heritage?

What's the difference between them? I want to buy an Ampeg SVT CL (non-Heritage) with one of the two. They're both the exact same price at this one shop. Looks like the Heritage was more expensive before this new offer. Any differences in sound? Is the Heritage version better like with the...

    BBC Slates Bass Players

Bit of a shame. People couldn't vote by phone - ok, I can live with that. But not even spending 5 minutes on bassists? That was a bummer. And Flea shouldn't have won, but that's a matter of taste indeed :) I liked the bassists half of the "the other one" episode, and really ended up thinking...

Playing outside in the cold: Can it do any harm?

Oh I'm sorry, that would be Celcius. Still, if it wouldn't be a problem, seeing the replies here doesn't make me want to even risk it. The stage isn't going to be heated I think. Thanks for the replies :) I'll definately be using my old bass.

Playing outside in the cold: Can it do any harm?

I've got a gig next week, which takes place outside, next to a (artificial) skating track, which is, obviously, being cooled. Temperature will probably be around 2-10 degrees. Can this do any harm to my bass? I assume I'll be okay when I keep it in the case for a while to let it get used...

New strings: Twangy/Metallic open notes... ?

Yeah, They're another brand. So what would cause this? Adjusted string height and I think that helped a bit, but not much. Couldn't adjust it that much though due to fret buzz. Should I try adjusting the neck a bit?

New strings: Twangy/Metallic open notes... ?

I got myself some new D'Addario ProSteels EPS 160, and while the 'closed' notes (so, while holding a fret) sound alright (the sound of brand new strings is not what I'm looking for), the open notes sound twangy and/or metallic like. So basically, the open A string sounds very different to the E5...

    Gibson Thunderbird or Fender Precision?

I got one with the stripes. The thin neck never really worries me, really. Doesn't seem that fragile to me.

    Gibson Thunderbird or Fender Precision?

I got me a Gibson Thunderbird :) Have it about three weeks now. Love it! Tried it next to a Precision and a Jazz... It was a pretty easy choice for me really. Thunderbird >>> Jazz > Precision. The sound is really deep and that's what I'm looking for. The Jazz came closer to this sound...

    Gibson Thunderbird or Fender Precision?

Ah, thought Fraiture used P most of the time, thanks :) Wolstenholme from Muse mostly uses Jazz basses and sometimes a Rick 4003. I'll try them out when I get the chance. Hopefully that'll be soon ;)

    Gibson Thunderbird or Fender Precision?

First of all: thanks for all the responses! I've picked some out here but all of them are useful. Those do look awesome. If I'd get a Precision this would certainly be an option. Okay, I thought it would work, I'll scrap that from the cons list ;) And that's exactly what I'm thinking right...

    Gibson Thunderbird or Fender Precision?

Haha, that would be the solution obviously, but I really just want to buy one now and use it for the next X years basically. That T-birds don't sit on stands is a real bummer... As that's what I use a lot with gigs. The versatility might be a problem too. Kings of Leons bassist has one though...

    Gibson Thunderbird or Fender Precision?

I've been googling a lot the last couple of weeks. I want to buy my first 'professional' bass. It's come down to these two: Gibson Thunderbird or Fender Precision. The Thunderbird is pretty rare here I believe, but I won't be buying a Precision if I know I really want the other. The music...

Jared Followill - Kings of Leon

Think he's using a Big Muff. I get the sound with a Bass Big Muff ;) Jared's one of my favourite bassists. There's some awesome basslines he's playing. I learned playing with a pick mostly with Kings of Leon songs.
