Sozo and Waterstone are my choices for small companies with reasonably priced guitars and basses. Both have some cool models available. I own one of each and I'm happy with the overall tone, playability, and build quality of both. Customer support so far has been good from both of them.

I assume you have a tube head. I had the same problem with a Sunn 2000S on top of an Ampeg 410 HLF Pro. A piece of foam rubber made it stop. I think the tubes were starting to to go bad though.

Does that mean I shoudnt replace g the preamp?

Tried that. doesnt make a differance.

After lurking here for a long time I've finally joined this forum hoping someone can help me troubleshoot this. I have a Hagstrom Beluga IIF that sounds very distorted even with the preamp switch off and no battery inside. I took the bass to my local Hagtrom dealer but they cant figure out...
