I follow a top Bass player on yt. Sometimes he places his thumb on the string but not anchored: only touching with the side. Is this a good technique?

I’ve tried in a shop these basses sitting in guitar classical position: Fender precision: awesome bass and Very comfortable Ibanez mikro: too little almost Ibanez mezzo: 32” top for me And a couple of marcus Miller and squier. Maybe is my spector the problem… but I love it, the action is...

Thanks for the warning, I’m a firefighter ( a “battalion chief” compared with USA) so I move a lot. I’ll try a 32” maybe is the right choice for that position.

Thanks a lot for the replies. I’ve started a month ago with a HB 30” and it feels like playing a stratocaster almost. Then with the Spector euro 4 34” ( an awesome instrument) I fine difficult reaching the first fret. Maybe is the shape of the body of maybe it will take some time to adapt…
