Another thing I wanted to do was to put a right-angle jack plug on my guitar cable to relieve stress on the cable. The end result is a cable that works both electrically and mechanically. The shield wire went well. The tip wire is solid but looks 'less than ideal'.

Yeah, just hack tuah that thing and push. I thought the back end was rigid plastic. It isn't.

I’m rather pleased with the results on the lugs. A couple have some excess running down the side toward the pot but nothing that will affect the performance. For the top grounds I followed one technique that put a blob down first then attached the wire. That may account for the diffusion. Also...

Oh, I see what you mean now. I was lazy and left off ‘pick guard’. If you look closely at my pic above you’ll see the bridge ground wire snaking up the side of the cavity to a pick guard screw hole. Screwing down the pick guard in that area put pressure on the foil with the ground wire underneath.

Interesting that you said this. I had just finished a making a change when I read your comment. I had my bridge ground attached to the shielding under a screw. Decided that IF that connection failed it wouldn’t be cool for the person I sold it to so I opened it back up and attached the bridge...

Take the Hakko FX-600 as an example. The $40 on Amazon would be 6,100¥ with the exchange rate. On Amazon JP it’s 4,000¥. Of course shipping would have to be taken into effect. Unless I were to use my US credit card, at which point my cost would be $26.

Yeah, standard pots. As far as I know. They are the ‘mini’ style with 16mm bases rather than the ‘standard’ 24mm. And I’ve since found another clip using the ‘original’ method.

Yeah, as long as the controls both work in the same direction. I just found anotherYT clip and it was done like the original wiring.
