Hole in Fender P Bass Body

I took the pick guard off my Fender P bass today to have a look under the hood. Everything looked fine, the little I know about it, but what did surprise me was this hole in the body with a green sticker in the bottom with the number 4 written on it. Anyone know what this hole if for?

It's a registration hole for locating the blank during their machining process.

It's for the optional "fire drummer" button. Most people own the manual version and that's why it's so popular on TB.

On a P bass they are known as a P Hole

On a J they are known as a Azz Hole

Of course, what else do you do with a number 4 other then write in on a piece of green paper and put in a hole that you drilled in the body of a P bass. Ha,ha.

They put the pre-stress mojo in there. If you take the pickguard off, even just to take a peek, the mojo escapes. If you play it a lot, and don't hit too many clams, the mojo might just return. Good luck with it. The real reason for it is to thwart us guys who would just as soon leave the pick guard home.
