It's part of paying forward to an industry that ended up being my career, split between pro audio touring and designing pro audio and bass gear. Lots of good times, but some of which was influenced by some not so great experiences that left an impression (read as "learning experience").

I dunno, bro - I used a PH210 on top of a PH115, pushed by a Shuttlemax 12.0 fairly frequently, and it worked REALLY well...

I had the same cabs but at the time I also had a second PH115 and a Ph410 so I was able to do some comparing. The 115 with the 210 on top sounded ok but the pair of 115 cabs or the 410 cab on its own was dramatically better. In comparison, the mixed stack sounded like there was something missing. It’s not that it didn’t work, the other matched setups just sounded way better.

When doing the same kind of shootout with the 3 different sized Subway cabs, no combo sounded off or less balanced then any other setup. They work together like no other mixed cab setups I have ever heard.

Funny that you should say that, because I also had a 2nd PH115, a PH215, and a PH410 at the same time, and experimented with all the combinations... I really liked the PH115(x2) setup - in fact, one or both of them was my main gigging setup for a couple years... I wonder if it was that particular amp setup, but when combined with the Shuttlemax 12.0, the PH210 on top of the PH115 flat out kicked @ss... I didn't care for the PH410 combined with a PH115 - I felt that the 410 paired up better with my PH215...

Yeah, I'm keeping my pair of SW115s, as the separates are a better fit for my typical needs these days... I'll probably add a SW112 when a decent deal pops up for one - I think it'll come in handy with my SW115s...

A few days ago I had every intention of taking the 3 hour trek down south to Hollywood to check out the WD800 and the 210. Family decided to stay a bit longer than expected after Christmas (which actually was just fine with me. I miss my brother and sister in law and all my nephews and niece) so hopefully in a couple weeks on my next 4 day weekend I’ll make the trek.

I’m sure I’ll try the 215, 212, and 410 just to hear em and whatnot. As an owner of the subway 112 and 115, it’s hard to imagine a better combination... although... 2 215 cabs... hmm...

The SW 15's are not like some of the old dub/reggae sounding big speakers you might be thinking of. The SW 15" loaded cabs are quite articulate and mid rich. The best way I can think of to describe them is as the "loudest, deepest, and best sounding 12" speakers" you'll ever play, but they're a few inches too big to fit in a 12 inch hole. As always YMMV, although in this case you may be pleasantly surprised.

Depends on the 15s, IME - I never had any problems with that when I was playing thru my Powerhouse 115s and 215, nor with the newer Subway 115s...

Even the old Diesel 215s and Road Ready 115s and 215s were mid voiced enough that hearing them in a mix was never a problem, IME...

I've had a D-800 for a couple of years now - a genuinely fine amp. Currently use a Barefaced Supertwin with it - works well. I used to have a NV115 which I LOVED a lot as it was deep, rich, tight and just Sooo musical, but had to move it on as I found the weight too much (I'm 59 / fractured spine / RA). Would like to know if the Subway 15 would replace some of the NV115 vibe that I miss. Don't get me wrong - the Barefaced is a truly impressive one cab solution for just about any situation, but I miss the tone & feel of the NV115 (but not the weight)

Good way to put it!

The SW115's are in their own league. I go from two extremes - punk band where I need some grit and grind, to my reggae band where I need big, fat and pillowy. They don't skip a beat (pun intended and I can't say the same about myself at all times :roflmao:). Nothing like some older 115 cabs that "don't cut through a mix" - I've owned a few in the past myself and the SW 115's put those to bed.

The whole Mesa Subway line is probably the only product line I've ever recommended to people as far as "spend your money, you won't be disappointed". I wouldn't have problem owning at least one of each cab.

My wife though... she may have an opinion or two. :whistle:



EDIT: Last night the punk band opened for Agent Orange at the Doll Hut in Anaheim. I brought the two SW 115's and they ruled the room with no FOH and the weird corners and walls in that place. No one complained about the bass not cutting through. I brought the D800 instead of the + just for simplicity sake and man... it killed.
