for me I like the sound of maple over koa
looks are subjective I'd take figured koa over plain maple any day but figured maple is amazing
and weight koa almost always wins out unless its Pacific big leaf maple aka quilt maple in which case it is also light
Of course then you have koa AND maple

I ask this as the upper horn is at the 14th fret same as a custom I built for myself and I find same good balance. I hear a lot of people touting placement of the strap button (end of upper horn) at the 12th fret but I suspect there are other design elements that afford good balance without restricting a design to this one fixed parameter. You have a nice bass there

There you go! Interesting how they didn’t use multiple pieces on their necks like a lot of other neck through designs.
It’s difficult to make money building instruments. To me there is value in creating beautiful ones like that.it's a convoluted scheme that I have I think it will be successful and affordable

I've slowly been collecting parts over the past few years, just waiting for a husk like the OP's to popup. I'm holding out for a maple neck routed for non-reverse pickups in the lowered position.it's a convoluted scheme that I have I think it will be successful and affordable
