Still got some work to do on the board. But I promised the Major I'd have her table cleaned off before I went back to work. So I bolted it back on and strung it up. As I suspected, the Power Spans sound good with a fretless board.
Now I can put my cobalt flats back on the 300 and leave the sponge strip under the strings at the bridge.

I use gel CA, no tape, until the final coat, and I start sanding as soon as it's dry to the look/touch.
I use cardboard from guitar string package to spread the CA. Dry 220, dry 600, maybe dry 800, then wet 1000.
I'm usually too tired of sanding to go to 2000 and 3000.

Gel is what I use too. I like a nice thick coating. Don't have to sand down the nut cuz the board is so built up.
Hate the sanding but love the nice shine.
As I suspected I don't use the fret lines at all. I do reference the small fret slots on the side once in a while. I guess I've gotten used to positioning with just the side markers. Nice to discover.

To be honest sometimes I stop at the 800 grit... I just wanna play.
I had a luthier do my fretless conversion. This is my first fretless. I had a new pickup installed while we were at it.

I have one also,and it's been a great introduction to fretless.For the money it's hard to beat.I know some frown on round wounds but I took the advice from a forum mate and put a Roto swing bass set on and the "mawh" expanded exponentially.ESP is killing it with their LTD line.
For the heck of it lately I’ve been doing some wonky covers. Picking a song and then playing whatever I hear in the shower or driving or... Over that song. Fretless is fun for this.

Not a fretless bass player,but couldn't resist this G&L L2000 fretless. Still waiting for it to be delivered,maybe tomorrow,according to tracking? Plan on getting use to playing a fretless,bass. At least it has lines,always played fretted basses.
Pretty. Those look like TI Jazz Flats - good score. The lines will get you close but you must use your ears.
Hopefully it is my eyes deceiving me, a blurry picture or combination of both, but in those pictures it looks like a de-fret still waiting to have the slots filled. More than happy to be put right.
If it is black lines on ebony it is a very nice aesthetic, and the blue burst with PRS-style exposed edges is very cool.
I noticed that as well. Looks to me like the fret slots are not filled, in which case I would advise getting some sort of wood veneer and filling those slots with it.
