I've read that Fender switched to Tonerider pickups on the 70's VM Jazz.....So how do the Select pickups stack up against Toneriders? Did you swap out the pots and cap also? Weight on this one please?...Thanks...

Don't see burgundy that often on a 'Ray.....just looks "right" with the maple board, really classy in an understated way ,kinda like seeing a Harley done in black and chrome.....just looks right....and a 2 band eq and mute bridge to boot...cool!....GLWTS....:thumbsup:

What's the weight on that beast? Could you briefly explain the electronics setup to me? Had an SB1000 20 years ago and my mind is fuzzy on the way it worked....does the SB700 have the same beefy neck profile as the SB1000? Thanks...

Different,brighter pics...Super tight neck joint on this,Yamaha built this bass with precision...29 years of seasoning in the wood,she's very resonant,you can feel the body vibrate very well which translates to BIG tone...hit me up with trade ideas,worst I can say is no....

Ray34 or U.S. MM SUB would be other trade ideas...ESP M-IV PJ?....This BB1100s gets a gnarly pick tone with both pickups selected....Thinking some Duff fans may appreciate this bass....It's got that 21st fret which also nice to have...A BB-1600 would work too...

1985 Yamaha BB-1100S in used but good condition. Alder body,maple/rosewood neck,vintage style threaded bridge.Three replaced tuners,two replaced knobs. 3 band eq with on /off switch and even a passive tone control...kinda the Swiss Army knife for someone who wants a 4 to cover any...

Been playing bass this with some new Curt Mangan nickels and the tone is unreal so I am taking the humble Fernandes back dowm...

Thanks, I agree....Yeah,grab a strap and try that puppy out and prepare to be impressed....Heck when these basses first hit the market they sold for about MSRP $900,as per my 95-96-GP price guide..That's probably about $700 street,a hefty sum for the 90's..

$800 seems a bit high. I've seen them on T.B. in $350 to $500 range. Saw one on EvilBay sit at $750..$800 should almost get you BB3000,the virtually a neck-through version of the BB1600...

Thanks guys,appreciate the input....I just watched a YouTube clip where someone was playing some Jamiroquai with an Orange BB-1600 and getting righteous funk tones with no preamp...I would consider one of those as well,I guess,though they seem to be a bit pricey...The white 1600's with the gold...

Thanks, ace,very good info...I would dig a P-width neck like that... Probably makes more sense to search for a BB450 than as the 2 BB1100S's I've seen were in the $500-$700 range.....Are the pickups in the BB450 and BB1100s alnico or ceramic?
