For Sale Fodera Monarch Custom - 6 String Bolt On Ash/Maple/Birdseye Maple

Hi Everyone, The last few years my career has become strongly focused on working as an audio engineer, and as such this beautiful Fodera has not been getting the gig time that it deserves. Because of this, I am looking to sell my custom shop Fodera Monarch 6 Bolt On. Since I do not perform as...

    Fodera Club Part XXVII

They will do it, but they generally advise against it. The monarch body is smaller and if you have the emperor control layout on it then some of your knobs end up being pretty close to your high string which can get in the way of certain right hand techniques. The monarch layout is designed to...

I think that that design is part of what they do to allow you to get a lower action on your strings. I'm not completely sure how that works though.

They do trim off some of the excess string. They have directions on their website. [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

Speaking of straps,.... ;) I decided to weather my brand new leather strap, so after my gig this weekend I was smacking my strap against things to scuff it up. My drummer thought that I finally lost my mind. It was quite therapeutic as well! I have been intending on getting some shots of my...

This is part of the reason that I got a topless ash body on my latest build. Very neutral looking for gigs like that.

The balance is impeccable! Especially on the Monarch! I got to gig my new Monarch this weekend, and I'm just completely thrilled with it. I took both of my Foderas along to the gig, just in case I needed to use my trusted EmpII for any reason, but I ended up only using the new Monarch the whole...

    Fodera Club Part XXVII

I have that same leather Levy strap (that one is 2.5", right?) and for me it works great on my new monarch, but not so well on my Emperor II. On the monarch, it stays in place and I don't feel the weight on my shoulders at all. On the Emperor II it slides around like crazy and I can't keep it...

    Fodera Club Part XXVII

My emperor II has the extended b, and all I can say is that the b string sounds fantastic. But, that could have everything to do with extended b design, or a little bit to do with it, or even nothing to do with it. At this point I truly don't care why I like how it sounds, I'm just glad that it...

Very nice! Sounds like you are going to have two very complimentary basses, with amazing tops! Can't wait to see the pics! You might have to change the screen name to "KoaFodera." ;)

And I think that I see some buckeye on your profile pic! Do you have a pic of that body that you can share?

    Fodera Club Part XXVII

Makes total sense. Having the right strap is really important. You have to be able to have a consistent technique, so a strap that moves the bass around in a way that feels unnatural is very frustrating to me. And that is kind of funny that a cheaper strap feels more comfortable on your most...

Thanks! Definitely a brighter bass for sure. That was my goal since my EII has a relatively darker tone. I wanted to add to my tonal options. I got some time to play it last night and I am just thrilled with the tone. It's exactly what I was looking for! Thanks! I was definitely looking at...

Thanks! And congrats! I couldn't imagine getting two foderas in one year. I think that my brain would explode from happiness, and my wallet would explode as well. You've probably posted it before, but what are your specs on the upcoming builds?

    Fodera Club Part XXVII

Is it twisting the bass so that the headstock would be more in front of you, or further behind you (if that makes sense)? I think that my Levy straps turn the bass a little bit, but it's kind of moving the body to my right so the neck is more in front of me. I'm kind of OK with that because for...

Thanks! I stole the headstock idea from the newborn section. Saw a bass (Mark Childer's bass) with a blister-maple fingerboard and matching headstock. I knew when I saw that pic that I had to do it on this build.

And after that last post,... I also have to say that I'm just blown away by my new Monarch. I already own an Emperor II, and I already know first hand how amazing these instruments are, so I didn't expect to be surprised. But I am. I am completely surprised by how amazing this bass is.

Thanks! This reminds me of a classical guitarist that I met a few years ago. I got to see his concert, and I know the promoter so later that night we were hanging out. He let me handle his guitar that was probably at least $20k, and as he was handing it to me I said something like, "seriously...

Itshereitshereitshere!!! :hyper: And it is even more amazing/beautiful than I imagined. I can't wait to play it but I had it delivered to the office, so I'm at work and then my company is presenting a concert tonight so I won't get to plug it in until late tonight. Funny story: So as I already...

Thanks for the feedback! That's good to know that you could get a 36" in the reunion blues bag. Both of my 6 strings are 35", so most bags should be OK, but I feel better hearing from someone who's used them. I've been considering the reunion blues dual and the mono m80 dual but I know that some...

You should be able to troubleshoot the batteries by switching to passive mode. Passive mode will work when batteries are dead. I've never had the batteries die in my fodera, so I don't what it sounds like when that happens.

    Fodera Club Part XXVII

Steu, or any other 6 string players, do you have a preferred double gig bag for your AJ six strings? Since my second fodera is about to arrive I've been looking at different options for dual bags. Seems like a lot of people like the mono m80 line.

I was very annoyed by that at first,.. but I just use safari on my iPhone to access TalkBass, and that has been working for me pretty well. It seems like the website is very mobile friendly.

Sweet! I thought I saw a faint production number there but I couldn't make out what the numbers were. Now I realize that it's perfectly legible if I read upside-down! Ha! I know that you aren't a six string guy, but have you gave it a test run?

That looks like a great deal for you! You should jump right on that!! So I sent my final payment to fodera today and arranged for shipping. Looks like it will be shipping early next week! I can't wait!! Once I receive my new monarch, my emperor II is going back to the shop for a tune up.

I change the tone knob all the time. Just depending on what kind of attack I want (and how old my strings are at the time). Usually between 50%-70%.
