I've been playing a 4-string off-and-on since 1995, but only playing seriously and consistently for about 3 years now. I have just bought a 5-string and may win another on eBay. What tips and suggestions do you have on making the switch- fingering, when to drop into the B & when not to, etc...

For a standard P-Bass 4-string (mine is MIM) which Pickups should I get? I do want bright sound, but not "clangy". I definitely don't want dull and muddy. What should I go for? Thanks
