I about to install some Fender 74 pickups and notice that there is little color dots on them (else they appears to be the same). How do i tell what one is neck and what one is the bridge pickup? - do the dots indicate that one is the bride pickup and the other is a neck pickup?

I have a 78 Fender P bass and it looks to have the original pickups installed. It might be a bit of a noob question but im after your feedback; is it worth keeping these original pickups OR replace with the Custom Shop 62's? Ive heard that the orig pickups arnt a very good tone, it sounds ok...
