    Drop E0 tuning

 Wait, I thought that’s what we were all trying to do  I could only imagine how massive it would sound on your fretless bass.

    Drop E0 tuning

l This is great, thank you so much. I already have a HPF pedal in mind. It sounds like if I go this route then I should be okay as long as I use the HPF pedal. I’m going to try to tune it BEBEAD first. I really liked how low my bass sounded with the tuning set to E0 even though I wasn’t...

    Drop E0 tuning

I’ve never heard of a HPF. I did notice my Empress Bass Compressor has a variable high pass filter. Do you know if this is the same thing or if I’m better off buying a HPF pedal?

    Drop E0 tuning

Do you have an octave pedal you’d recommend? I tried this using a Digitech Whammy and it didn’t sound very good at all IMO.

    Drop E0 tuning

If I did go to this tuning would it damage my amp and cab? I have a gk800rb and an ampeg svt 212av. I read online somewhere a high pass filter pedal will help prevent the lower frequencies damaging a cab, which is why I’m asking.

    Drop E0 tuning

I had no clue. I never got into Meshuggah but that sounds interesting. I think I’m going to try this approach first before spending money on a new bass. In the case of my guitarist drop tuning to EBEADG, does that mean I should tune all the strings on my bass (BEADGC) to match the exact octave...

    Drop E0 tuning

Sorry I originally read this wrong and thought you were offering to sell it lol. This looks awesome and I’m sure it sounds amazing. Especially fretless.

This looks awesome. I prefer a 6 string bass though. Thanks anyway.

    Drop E0 tuning

Hey all, I play in a death metal band and we have new songs that are in drop E0. The guitarist tunes to EBEADG. I drop tuned my 6 string bass to that tuning during our last practice out of curiosity. I loved the low/punchy bass tone that came out but obviously since my bass wasn’t built for...

Amp recommendation comparable to GK 800RB

They really are unique, which is why I love them so much. Other bass players in my area have mentioned the other amps but wanted to ask the pros here. Wont the Legacy 800 be too powerful for my Ampeg 212av cabinet? It’s rated at 600w.

Amp recommendation comparable to GK 800RB

I made a post about a year ago and everyone said the same thing. I wanted to post again since I found some new ones nobody mentioned. Thank you.

Amp recommendation comparable to GK 800RB

Nothing wrong with the GK. I love it. I just don’t want to be in a situation where I don’t have a backup amp. My GK will be the backup.

Amp recommendation comparable to GK 800RB

I am looking to replace my GK 800RB. I know it is not replaceable and I love it but it is the only amp head I have and I'm looking for new gear. I play in a death metal band and I love the grindy tone and volume that head can push out. I saw posts on here before but they are a few years old. I...

    Three Volume Knobs Question

If that’s the case is it safe to say the left volume knob should not be higher than the right? I’m still learning so much about this head. I love it but it can be wild at times.

    Three Volume Knobs Question

Awesome, I’m so glad I asked. I do use modern full range cabs. Since that’s the case is it safe to say I don’t have to worry about the right two knobs at all? And thank you for providing the manual.

    Three Volume Knobs Question

Sorry about that. I should have mentioned it’s a GK800RB. Here is a pic I found on another post in this forum. https://www.talkbass.com/attachments/imag0556-jpg.855750/

    Three Volume Knobs Question

Hey all, I have 3 different volume knobs on my amp head. I have the one labeled as volume, one as the 100w volume, and the final one as the 300w volume. As I understand the first knob controls more of the tone while the 100w/300w knobs control the loudness. (Main volume is input while...

Who says you can't slap on a P bass?

I rarely slap anymore but when I did I felt the most comfortable doing it on my P bass. I thought it sounded better than most basses.

Looking for new mini amp head to replace GK800RB

Looking for new mini amp head to replace GK800RB

I was going to do this originally. I love my 800RB. But I realized I don’t have a backup and I’d like something similar. Plus I like the idea of putting something small into the bottom of a duffel bag since I don’t want to carry another bag. That rack bag is neat though. I’ve never seen...

Looking for new mini amp head to replace GK800RB

I actually just came across an MB500. Sounds like that will definitely be a great fit especially considering I get nervous about blowing my cab. I also don’t want to spend too much. Thank you to everyone for the replies. This is such a great forum.

Looking for new mini amp head to replace GK800RB

Yep its 600watts at 4ohms. I usually keep my 800RB at around 10-11 on the volume knob.

Looking for new mini amp head to replace GK800RB

Wouldn't that be too powerful for my SVT212AV? The 212AV is 600W and my 800RB is pushing 300W at 4ohms. I'm slowly learning about amps and stuff so I could be wrong.

Looking for new mini amp head to replace GK800RB

My band is about to go on a 10 day tour and I would like to buy a mini amp head to lighten the load. I have an Ampeg SVT 212AV that I currently use a GK800RB with. The GK is in a hard shell case and heavy and I'm currently shopping around for something new. I play in a death metal band with a...

    Ampeg SVT212AV Preamp Question

I just bought an Ampeg SVT212AV to have a lighter rig since I’m a weakling and my 4x10 is heavy. I am currently using my GK 800rb preamp since that’s what I use for my 4x10. I realize I’m not reaching the full potential of my new 2x12 since the GK is 300 watts at 4 ohms. Since the 2x12 is 600...

    Stamina Help

Hey all, I've been playing for about 9 years now and I've always had a problem with stamina. Even in highschool when all I did after class was play, I still had this problem. Now since I am a full-time student at a university, homework consumes me, therefore leaving me no choice but to not...

    Double thumbing like Victor..

I've been trying to get this down nicely for some time. I found it a lot easier to play on some basses (especially my '74 precision) than others (nasty on all of my Ibanez basses). I guess a lot of it can also depend on the action and body structure. Or, maybe its just in my head.

    Interesting bass lines

Very tricky considering the fact that today's music mainly consists of root-playing-only bass players.
