Just picked up a used Bugera Veyron Mosfet BV1001M

You run into the same thing in the tech sector, usually when it comes to networking... If a company advertises "500Mbps Throughput/Bandwidth" on their wifi router, they can put that in there even if the bandwidth is split between two frequencies. So if it's 380Mbps on 5.0Ghz and only 120Mbps on...

    $60 Jazz 5 pickups from Amazon…

Artec pickups is what you're looking for. I bought some to put in a bass I was selling and almost couldn't let it go. I'll throw out that you may want to try pickup height adjustment and different strings first though

    Looking for a chorus pedal....

Julia's a great pedal, just have to make sure you're giving it enough signal to get the most out of it. My EMG PJX set isn't quite hot enough, usually need boost or compressor to get the level up. It's warmer than most of the digital ones I've played before, I have the Zoom MS-70CDR+ if I want...

    Btb upgrade for gospel

They'll sound good either way, but the Bart preamps are quite nice. I'd personally recommend getting one with active/passive option and a mid-freq switch too.

    Cab weight

I think we're getting terms mixed up here.... "Ultra-Lite" is clearly indicating the cab produces ultraviolet light that is outside the visible spectrum for humans. It's made a heck of a leap from the kinda lite we had in the 80s...

Multi Effect on a budget? (EU)

Having previously owned the MS-60B, and currently owning/using the MS-70CDR+ and B3n, I have never had noise issues generated by the pedal itself, even when using the compressors. I don't really use mine for drive (outside of what you might get on some amp models), but with a bass that isn't a...

Multi Effect on a budget? (EU)

Gonna jump on the Zoom bandwagon too lol Most compact/space-saving: MS-60B+ or MS-70CDR+ Used w/ good footswitch layout: B3n Newest w/ best footswitch layout: B2 Four Unless you want to switch patches/effects on and off during a song, I'd get the MS-60B+ or MS-70CDR+. They are single stompbox...

NBD - Dingwall NG3 Adam "Nolly" Getgood Edition

The best part of this bass is it's a signature bass that doesn't have the artist's name plastered all over it...or even on the front of it at all. Same with the Dingwall John Taylor model. I know why certain brands do it, but it just feels tacky to me, nice to see Dingwall doesn't go in for that...

    Rest In Peace Frank Beard

Saw them at the Rodeo in 2007, killer show for sure...miss Frank and Dusty :crying: Gotta wonder if Billy is going to tour again after this current one. He's perfectly capable of doing it since he's filling the most recognizable roles in their music.

    Btb upgrade for gospel

Which coil config did you go with? Classic? Original? J? As said, the USA Barts are great and one of (IME) the most low-noise passive pickups on the market. Even my MK1s are dead silent using the Ibanez 3-band preamp.

Band becoming LLC, paying members as contractors... Run, or okay?

This is like going on two dates...then she runs a federal background check, does a hard credit check, initiates a pre-nup, and schedules an STD screening for you...all without your consent or input. Part of being proactive is having a conversation first, before taking steps that are astronomical...

    Ibanez build

Break angle is usually better with the 2+2 style like Ibanez uses...inline 4 usually needs a string tree, but most of those don't cover the A string, which also benefits from some help in that department. Is it the tuning peg arrangement or the literal shape of the headstock wood that miffs...

    Manring on solo bass…

"For bass players, stepping into the spotlight can be daunting enough. Take away the rest of the band, and suddenly there’s nowhere to hide – just four strings, an amp and the challenge of carrying an entire performance on your shoulders" Hmm....makes me question if the author of the article is...

Not getting the p bass sound I want from my Yamaha bb234

Pickup height and distance can play a part, so can the resistor value on your pots. What's your break angle like on the bridge? Bottomed-out saddles or do they have some height? Nut slot tight or loose? You can spend a lot of time and money trying to troubleshoot it, but as was mentioned...

Resurrecting my MusicMan 212RH bass cabinet - Need advice on replacement speakers

Yes, myself being one of the first to beat the "Use original speakers or get your scientific calculator out" drum....it may be worth rolling the dice since you really would prefer to use that cabinet. I'd wonder about speaker sensitivity though, as with a 150w you don't want to leave a lot of...

    Downsizing to 4 string Ibanez

Stock? I don't believe so, it's their alnico PFR pickups and EQB-IIDX preamp I have the SRX3EX and it's an excellent bass, plays VERY well after setup. It's EMG35-size pickups though, so that's a consideration if you want to use it as a modding platform. Lot more non-EMG pickup builders are...

    Downsizing to 4 string Ibanez

How handy are you with setups and modifications? You can get some REALLY solid used ones in the older SR400-700 range (the P/J basses) or early SR500s (w/ Bart MK1s). They usually have great bones, so after a decent setup they should play incredibly well. Throw in some Nordstrand pickups and...

LOL, that brings me back to when I got my first automobile. It was a ~18 year old Toyota Pickup, my Dad told me when I got it "Son, this truck comes with a 'visual alarm'...anybody who sees it isn't going to want to steal it." :roflmao:

    Guitar humbucker sized bass pickups

While I don't have experience with those particular Artec humbuckers, I can say that their pickups are surprisingly good considering the price. I had tried the single coil Jazz pickups, and while sorta noisy, they sounded VERY good. Almost didn't sell that Jazz bass after hearing it with those...

    Short scale starter bass recommendations

Yeah I'll shill for the Talmans as well. Short Scales aren't my thing, otherwise I'd own one....considered the medium scale models, but I'm pretty much at-home with a 34" SR4 neck, no real reason to shift away from what already works for me.
  29. KevInDaBassment

    Rumble speakers, again

Hey, if it sounds good to you then why the heck not? More midrange is a welcome addition on those cabs for me. IIRC many classic bass cabs like the B15 weren't thunderous lows, but had a healthy midrange. ~250w RMS is also a very healthy power rating for a speaker with that kind of character...

Estimated cost of repairing a cracked headstock.

I don't think getting a quote or assessment from a pro would take too long. You've got detailed pictures and there's nothing to troubleshoot, you just want a figure/estimate for repairs. Pre-out to FX-in question

Don't dime the SVT 7 and you'll be fine. At 4 ohms that's 500w into each cabinet if you've got the amp maxed out. There's preamp and EQ gain to consider, but listen with your ears and don't go crazy on volume. They should make enough noise to get you by in most gigs. Plenty of 2x12 or dual 1x12...

Weird issue with hearing Radio Stations through amp

Usually EMGs are notoriously low-noise and don't actually have that sensitive of magnets, using a preamp to amplify the signal to audible levels. Very surprising you're having this reaction with them alone on that amp.

Underrated but vital bassists UK/Ireland thread.

Mystery extra wire in battery cavity - 2019 Strandberg Boden Bass Original

My guess would be for grounding? It could also have been a standard wiring bundle/harness that was used for wiring the bass up for 18v operation, but since yours is only 9v it wouldn't be needed. Totally a guess though, it seems like an odd thing to just leave there, but I'm not sure what the...

    Best P pickup for flats

Try adjusting pickup height, give some Rotosound flats a shot, and some 500k pots would also be worth trying before the pickup swap. Lots of bright P pickups out there, but you may be surprised how well a Squier CV pickup, the Duncan Designed ones from the Squier VM series, or other cheaper P...
