hmm how would a pedal or the tube pac compare to a designated tube bass preamp, such as the ampeg svp-cl?? My brother has a svp-cl that i've played through a million times and it sounds superb.

    Warming up solid state

Do you think the Valve Drive or the Barber Linden adds more warm tubey goodness? Im more interested in Valve Drive as a preamp than an overdrive but the drive would be a nice extra.

    Warming up solid state

I used to have a Sansamp Bassdriver and I was not to fond of it. It didnt have enough mids to it and I thought it always had too much treble or too much bass. But a lot of people seem to love it so to each his own I guess....

Hey guys im currently looking for some sort of tube preamp pedal to warm up my Ampeg B2r. I'm looking for a nice round tubey sound without spending a ton of money on a new head at the moment. I've been looking at the EBS Valve Drive, has anyone ever tried this? Any other suggestions would be...

    Precision Pickups

Thats why I went with the Rio Grandes. They have those strong P bass mids that I love but they have a much fuller sound compared to the stock 50s pups in my opinion.

    Precision Pickups

Thanks for all the suggestions but I ended up going with some Rio Grande vintage pickups. They sound killer, lots of bass and very punchy with some sweet highs. I'm really happy with them. I dont understand why more people dont use them......

Reccomend me some good Blues Rock.

You should check out Tame Impala. They're not that bluesy at all compared to the the Black Keys and Stevie but they got some blues influences to them. They're kinda like a psychedelic groove rock band. They are SOOO GOOD

fender 50s classic precision vs American vintage 57

I would definitely go with the classic over the Road Worn or the 57 Reissue. The road worns are nice but they pretty much sound identical to the classic execpt they're beat up and what not. The 57 reissue is a killer bass for sure but its pretty overpriced if you ask me. Now the classic is...

    What flatwounds do you recommend??

I went with the LaBella 760s. They have a real nice smooth feel to them and I can imagine they will only get better once they're broken in. Now I just need to decide on what precision pickups to buy as well hmmmmmm......

    What flatwounds do you recommend??

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I'm thinking I might go with the La Bellas or the chromes. I have some GHS flats on the fretless jazz now so I might just change those as well and try both

    What flatwounds do you recommend??

I've recently purchased a MIM 50s reissue precision bass and I'm having a hard time deciding on what brand of flatwounds to buy. Im currently using some old GHS half rounds on it but I'm looking for a warmer tone still. Any recommendations for a fellow bass player???:hyper:
