    Best bass under $3,000?

I keep having to say this, but yeah I should have titled it “what’s your favorite” rather than “best”. Not asking what’s best for me, just what’s everyone’s favorite higher end bass. I’m not dead set on spending $3K (max not min) I just would if I found something that I loved. And just cause...

    Best bass under $3,000?

4 banger, I love the look and sound of MM but their necks are too wide for my liking. Someone earlier said to keep a lookout for the SLO Stingrays or Sterlings, they have 1.5” nut width. EB makes some in very small runs, maybe I can connect at the right time for one. Soaking all this in, and...

    Best bass under $3,000?

Gotcha. Yes, this has been a huge help, brought me back down to earth a bit too. I’m even more excited to get out and look for new basses than I was before, and starting to realize I can find something great for less than my max. I’ll definitely give some used basses a chance also

    Best bass under $3,000?

Dude relax. I should have said “what’s your favorite” rather than “best”. I get it. I know how to play, I’m not new at this, I just don’t have much experience with higher end instruments.

    Best bass under $3,000?

Yep on the list. Looks like they have tons of great brands available

    Best bass under $3,000?

Correction: I don’t WANT to spend stupid money, I’m WILLING to spend stupid money. I’d be plenty happy with a less expensive bass if I find one, but I have no experience with high end instruments so I reached out to y’all
  8. TimeBombJohnny

    Best bass under $3,000?

Yeah should have replaced “best” with “what’s your favorite”
  9. TimeBombJohnny

    Best bass under $3,000?

Reno, not Vegas. About a 9 hour drive to Orange county but yeah would love to sneak into NAMM someday!

    Best bass under $3,000?

Dude I feel dumb, that never even crossed my mind for some reason. Blind to the power of a new bass I guess. I’ll keep that in mind when taking it out thanks

    Best bass under $3,000?

I hear what you’re saying for sure, I love all those guys’ playing too. This all started because I decided to get one great bass that will last me forever, although honestly I doubt I’ll ever really be done searching. I really just wanted to see what was out there from the guys on TB

    Best bass under $3,000?

Maybe I will! That would be the best case scenario

    Best bass under $3,000?

The Mayones I found played great, very smooth. It was used and not even close to the style I like but it played so well I started researching them. I’ll be checking them out for sure. I was in Phoenix and stopped by the Bass Place, they’re mostly an online retailer. He had a ton of spectors and...

    Best bass under $3,000?

I know most would disagree with me, but I think Spectors and Warwicks are kinda ugly. Just not a fan of the designs, but they do sound great
  16. TimeBombJohnny

    Best bass under $3,000?

Yeah starting to think “best” in the title wasn’t what I should have led off with. I should have went with “your favorite”, basically I’m just looking for ideas and advice

    Best bass under $3,000?

    Yep it’s on the list

    Best bass under $3,000?

Probably what I’ll end up doing, once I figure out just what it is I want. I like the suggestion earlier of taking notes on all the things I like when playing off the shelf, and if nothing fits the bill having one custom built. Maybe I’ll end up finding something perfect for much less, that...

    Best bass under $3,000?

    GK 1001RB and/or Fender Rumble

    Best bass under $3,000?

Meh, I’ve never had anything happen to my stuff. Unless you mean playing hard rock means you don’t need a $3000 bass, that may be true hahaha

    Best bass under $3,000?

    Yep in process now!

    Best bass under $3,000?

Last trip to Chicago I went to CME. That’s where I played the Sandberg and Mayones basses I got to try. They also had a Stingray special that looked amazing, sounded great, but my hands hated it unfortunately. I’ll be back there a couple more times this year and plan on checking in for sure. Thanks

    Best bass under $3,000?

Gotcha. Not looking to impress anyone or spend the max amount, I just want something great and I’m not afraid to pay for it. If I can save, even better. Maybe I’ll change my mind on buying used as my search goes on. Thanks

    Best bass under $3,000?

I’ve always had cheaper fender basses so I’m really not sure what I want pickup wise at the moment. Mostly looking for tips and trying to get a feel for what other people play at this quality level. The Sandberg I played had P split coils and a bridge humbucker and sounded great. Lakland...

    Best bass under $3,000?

Do you know the CLF vs G&L deal? Are all G&L instruments built in CA considered CLF instruments? Are the non CLF serials built oversees or somewhere other than CA?

    Best bass under $3,000?

I really like the VM. I found a used one in Chicago that played/sounded awesome, it was beat up pretty bad though. You ordered the VS through a dealer?

    Best bass under $3,000?

I have a weird hang up about buying used, a bit irrational maybe but I prefer new. I like G&L / Fender necks, they feel comfortable to me. MM necks feel chunky. Weight wise I’d prefer under 9 lbs but balanced well to avoid neck dive. I understand Sadowski has this nailed but I don’t know if...

    Best bass under $3,000?

Yeah I’m finding most stores don’t bring in this kind of stuff often since it doesn’t move too quickly

    Best bass under $3,000?

I read up on Mike Lull, he’s in WA I go there a lot and plan to check his stuff out. Thanks!

    Best bass under $3,000?

Nope, I’m open to anything really but I don’t want to order something I haven’t put my hands on first
  31. TimeBombJohnny

    Best bass under $3,000?

I feel the cost just gets me to the level of quality I’m looking for, I hope to spend less if I can. I want something that’s very playable, active/passive switchable, lightweight-ish, and that’ll last basically forever. The Fender USA or custom shop basses could be on the list too but so far...

    Best bass under $3,000?

I’m in the market for a new bass, I have $3,000 to spend but could spend more if I find the right one. I live in an area with a very limited bass selection, but I travel for work almost every week so have been visiting bass stores hoping to get my hands on upper end basses to try out with...
