UPDATE:
I just tried using my old amp (an old gallien-krueger 300B) ...and same issue- amp seems to be working, but no sound. And no characteristic "thump" sound from the speakers when I turn the amp on. So now I'm thinking my cab might be the problem. (an old Sunn 2x15)
I had a tech install a...
The third tube from the right looking at the rear of the amp does not glow like the rest when the amp is on. So both green indicators should not be on (even if one is very dim), correct? Does a tube not glowing not necessarily mean its dead?
Oops...I meant third tube from the right.
So pretty much the whole problem here is the dead tube? If any one tube isn't functioning then the signal is interrupted and there will be no sound, correct?
Yeah I got you. Makes sense. So its kinda hard on the tubes when the amp is turned on and off...
Haven't messed with or replaced any components since I've had the amp. I did just notice that one of the tubes isn't glowing dull red-orange like the rest are...so its dead right? The third tube from the left when looking at the rear.
Since first posting last week I returned the bias 2 control to its original position and the amp has been off since. This morning I turned it on, let it sit in standby for 5 mins and upon taking it out of standby both lights were green this time, however the bias 2 light is significantly dimmer...
Scratch that. If leave the amp in standby for 3-5 mins the bias 1 LED turns green immediately upon putting the amp in ON mode/taking it out of standby. I then turned the bias 2 control very slightly and the LED turned red. I continued turning until it stopped, and still red LED. When I play my...
The cable should be connecting the two jacks which are right next to each other, correct? I did that and still no sound. The jacks are labeled preamp out / poweramp in though. Not preamp out and preamp in.
The green "bias 1" light turns on once I play my instrument and stays on, but does not turn on when I first turn on the amp. I will take a look at the manual...
Bought a barely used svt-cl in late 2018 and had no problems with it until earlier this year. First, once when I was playing the volume suddenly drops significantly and most of the lows cut out. The sound could best be described as weak and distant with some fuzz/hissing. No squealing or popping...
Replacing the fuse, but first I'd like to know if it matters which end of the fuse is inserted into the amp and which end is inserted into the piece that holds the fuse?
Im getting a new, taller blank nut for my jazz bass from graphtech.com so I can fit the low 4 strings of a heavy-gauge 5-string set on it. Excellent selection on that site. But ill check out Axemasters too.
Thanks for the info
I'm measuring from the edge of the string to the end of the nut. Using a 6in scale and that method more carefully this time: the G string inserts in the nut just under 3mm from the nut's edge and the E string is just over 3mm. So like 1mm difference between the two, maybe a tad less.
I see what...
How about this?
I mean...I have two other basses and this never happens when I play them...
If this is how all 4003's are made... than the g string is a little too close to the edge of the frets in my opinion.
At the first fret on my ric its slightly less than 1mm from the string to where the...
So I recently acquired a ric 4003 and I've noticed that the the G/top string often slips over the edge of the fret I'm playing- cutting off the note played, creating an unpleasant sound and making bending basically impossible.
I'm thinking maybe the nut may be slightly flawed and the groove...
