Double Bass Which ones have the lowest tension?

By the way, I ended up ordering the Evah Pirazzi Slaps and the D & G Oliv (as per the video with Herve {thanks Herve!}). I wanted to order the Innovation Silver Slaps as well (while I was on a roll blowing all of my life savings, I figured, why not...?), but they seem to be out of stock...

Double Bass Which ones have the lowest tension?

Hey, Sorry to bump the thread but I have a question that I've been meaning to ask, and it's something that I've seen written and talked about a lot but I'm still not really sure what it means or how it works. Could somebody please explain to me the concept of buying a string and using it 'tuned...

    Upgrading pots

Sorry to bump the thread. I just have a quick question: Were the volume and tone pots used in P basses let's say, in 1964, the same pots that were being used on Jazz basses...? I may need to replace a volume pot (and maybe the tone pot as well) on my 64 jazz bass, and a friend of mine has a 64 P...

    Double Bass Juzek Club

Thanks so much for your comment. Really good info. I bought this bass in Melbourne Australia (where I’m from). I don’t know much about the history of Juzek basses over there but I’ll look into it.

    Double Bass Juzek Club

Hi everyone, I just started a thread somewhere else here on TalkBASS trying to see if I could get some help discovering the origins of my unlabeled bass. One of the responses I got is that my bass looked exactly like someone's Juzek. And indeed, it did. I've spent the last couple of hours doing...

Double Bass Does anyone know what bass this is (brand/maker)...?

After quite a bit of research I am now thinking that it's probably a Wilfer Juzek... Thanks everyone for your input

Does anyone know what bass this is (brand/maker)...?

I just did a quick Wilfer Juzek google search and I'm now convinced that that's what it is. Thanks so much for your help.

Double Bass Does anyone know what bass this is (brand/maker)...?

Hi everyone, I have owned this German bass for over 20 years. In all that time, I have never known who the maker of this bass is (or what year exactly it is from). Anyone with a similar bass, or who might know something about it and thus, who might be able to shed some light on my...

Show your video! --You on Youtube Part 3

Here's my one and only Youtube video upload - done in 2012. I'm playing a bass solo over the tune 'Sunny'. I'm using a Whammy pedal (octaver) and at the end, a wah-wah pedal. BTW, I'm not left-handed. My computer recorded it that way. Hope you guys like it.

How many fender jazz basses were made 1960-1965

Hey everyone, I've reading up on Pre CBS fender basses and in paricular, Fender Jazz basses. I have two 1964 basses and it occurred to me that I have no idea how many were made. Does anyone know roughly how many were produced - either by year, or in total - between 1960 - 1965...? Thanks in...

Can anyone recommend a good Refin Luthier...?

Since I posted this thread, I have filled out my profile :) But where the Luthier is located, is actually not paramount. We live in this globalised world and all, so I'm just hoping to get to know a few luthiers who especialise in vintage refins, to see their work and to hopefully reach out to...

Can anyone recommend a good Refin Luthier...?

I have a couple of old Pre-CBS Fender basses. They’ve been refin’d already but I’ve never been too happy about the way they look. It got me thinking: maybe I could get them refin’d again but maybe this time more to my liking. I’m a big fan of Mr. Bravewood (who’s now semi retired) and Luca...

    Is this technically still pre-CBS?

Hey Magnaton, Sorry to bump the thread so long after the last comment, but I need to ask: Would that J bass (neck stamp 7 Dec 64 - S/N L 97***) have been by any chance an olympic white colour...? If yes, there's a good chance that I ended up buying that same bass and it is now happily residing...

Haven't seen a bass associated with Jaco turn up in a while.....here we go.

Sorry to bump the thread. I just thought I might make a small contribution to this conversqtion in order to bring it to a conclusion of sorts... Jaco's main basses were a: - 62 sunburst, fretless Jazz Bass (aka The Bass of Doom), now in the hands of Robert Trujillo; - 60 sunburst, fretted Jazz...
