Recording bass guitar vs 6 string electric guitar: does bass guitar need amp/cab sim, IR etc?

Did you blend the two tracks together or just select one of them to use in your recordings? Good advice thanks, I'll try this.

Recording bass guitar vs 6 string electric guitar: does bass guitar need amp/cab sim, IR etc?

So as you might remember from my thread a month or so back, I recently started playing bass guitar after playing guitar and keyboard for over 30 years. I'm getting to grips with the playing technique, but now need some advice on recording bass guitar and how it differs from recording 6 string...

I'm learning bass, questions about picking hand technique: Only 2 fingers used in bass playing? Picking hand at a 45 degree angle? Rest strokes? Etc.

Damn, that's some excellent bass playing there, and that Mesa/Boogie amp sounds awesome! Love the tone.

I'm learning bass, questions about picking hand technique: Only 2 fingers used in bass playing? Picking hand at a 45 degree angle? Rest strokes? Etc.

It's ok - happens to us all sometimes! Speaking of using a pick for bass, do any bass players ever use a combination of pick and fingers? I know a lot of guitarists use a hybrid of pick and fingers, but wondered if that's a thing with bass players too?

I'm learning bass, questions about picking hand technique: Only 2 fingers used in bass playing? Picking hand at a 45 degree angle? Rest strokes? Etc.

Ring and index finger? Don't you mean index and middle fingers? Yes, I know some bass players use a pick, and this does result in a brighter tone with more attack etc, which is good for some things. For me, though, I'm more interested in playing bass with fingers. I play a variety of styles...

I'm learning bass, questions about picking hand technique: Only 2 fingers used in bass playing? Picking hand at a 45 degree angle? Rest strokes? Etc.

Thanks for the overview of Rainey's course. I think I'll get these books anyway as I'm sure they'll be extremely useful. One advantage I have is that having studied keyboard/piano, I can read standard music notation including bass clef, so that should help with my bass playing especially as I...

I'm learning bass, questions about picking hand technique: Only 2 fingers used in bass playing? Picking hand at a 45 degree angle? Rest strokes? Etc.

Excellent videos, some fine examples of bass playing mastery there. It looks like Chuck Rainey wrote a course called 'The Complete Electric Bass Player' some time ago too, which gets good reviews, so I might look at buying it. Seems like there are 5 books in the series which teach everything...

I'm learning bass, questions about picking hand technique: Only 2 fingers used in bass playing? Picking hand at a 45 degree angle? Rest strokes? Etc.

I've been playing guitar, keyboards and singing for over 30 years so I'm not new to music, but I've decided to start learning bass as I'm tired of using bass VSTs in my DAW and also tired of relying on other bass players to record real bass. I want to get to a good standard where I can write and...

Looking for the cassette tapes for the books 'Russ Shipton's Rock & Pop Bass' course for learning bass guitar

I've got the 2 books for learning bass guitar from a course called 'Russ Shipton's Rock & Pop Bass', which came out in the late 80s. I'm a big fan of Russ Shipton's books for learning guitar and keyboards, and his bass course is really good too, despite its age. The books originally came with...

    BOSS GT-1B OUTPUT SOCKET

Are the L and R outputs TRS or TS? So if they're not TRS, we'll need to use a DI box to connect to the mixing desk? And is it possible to connect the L output to the bass amp and the R output to the desk? Each output will need to be set differently, i.e. the L output to the amp will presumably...
