Coming 10/8/26: Golden Anniversary of School Days

Journey To Love and his self titled were his high watermarks in his solo albums to me too. It seemed in the early-mid 70's a lot of cats releasing burning fusion albums and by the end.of the decade record companies started "suggesting" adding vocals of disco tracks to the recordings to get sales...

Joey is playing some serious foot pedal bass too.

He was a organ master in the mold of all the greats from the great trios. He was a beast as a kid.

    Rest In Peace Frank Beard

I'm also 71 and see that conveyor belt of life sliding in my direction and how fast time is going with old age. Z.Z. Top is another band that seemed to come around the time I was starting to play and discovering a lot of monster three and four piece bands like ZZ, Free, Mountain etc. Perfect...

The Brecker Brothers Band: founders of music school Funk?

I used to go to their club a lot and see them in so many configurations, some of the best music I ever witness. I'm going to disagree with Cheese, I don't think of the Breaker Bros as a music school funk band, I consider them a slamming NYC funk band stocked with some of the cities best.

    Felix Pappalardi

Back in the day Felix produced a album from the band Back Door that flew under the radar of a lot of folks. Back Door featured bassist Colin Hodgkinson, a monster bassist who was a big influence of Stanley Clarke. I was a huge Felix fan, those distorted Sunns filled a nice sonic space on those...

    Fun Idea!

Bypassed addictions too. Besides forgetting lyrics because I don't sing and forgotten guitar cord, I've done the whole list.

The cost of seeing my favorite bassists.

I think meet and greets are pretty dumb, but in their defense they only really came around as another income stream for the artist after the lack of music sales and everybody coming after their merch.

The cost of seeing my favorite bassists.

I saw hundreds of shows in the tri-state area growing up, a single Taylor Swift ticket these days probably covers all my youthful concert experiences.

    Some Brian Bromberg

I think that's the Bromberg album that also had his bass were each string is panned left and right, you hear it in the slapping clip. He's a beast!😎

The Glamor of Being a World-Class Bassist

He's the bassist on Brother Louie, but I think he joined too late to be on the whole album. Killer bass line supplied from one of rock's greatest and most soulful journeyman bassist.

Two of my favorite Mac albums are Future Games and Bare Trees from the Kirwan era, the harmonies on those albums are really the template the Rumors era band.

In the 80's a large part of my gig was with female singers, I've played a ton of the Pretenders catalog on those gigs, always enjoyed it.

    Should I become a Drummer?

Do you enjoy playing bass with part time drummers? Jamming a few songs here and there is not the same as pulling a whole night of a gig. I wouldn't hire you.

Which year represents you in terms of the highest number of album releases that you love?

Every year has delivered some greatness but I do have a fondness for about '76-77 with the releases of Stevie Wonder, Joni, Weather Report, Paul Simon, Stanley, Jaco, etc.

They were doomed without a good singer/Frontman and songwriter. Bogart is one of my favorite all-time bassists but it's pretty well known a some guitar players hated playing with him.
