fretless maple neck

    Non-epoxied fretless maple with roundwounds... A terrible idea?

    I'm a strict rounds user, even on FL. From what I can see in the photos and the bass description, no epoxy or anything is protecting the board. Granted, I have a very light touch and do not slap (on FL). Nonetheless, will this board get eaten alive by the rounds in a matter of months?

    Up for grabs is a vintage 1972 Fender Precision maple/maple bass neck. This bass started life as a fretted neck and was made fretless in the mid 80s. The frets were not removed however, they were filed down and covered over with some type of finish. Not really sure if it’s polyurethane but...
