Alright so I've decided to give this a go, I'm going to be building a fretless something, probably out of wood mostly, at least that's my master plan thus far.
There will be lots of use of hand tools as I'm currently working out of an apartment and only have a Dremal and a drill at the ready.

I should also mention that I am horrible at build threads so be prepared for mis information, things left out and probably a fair deal of cheating.

So here we go!

This is whats been done thus far.

This is an oak fingerboard blank that started off as two smaller (not long enough) pieces and was dove tailed together several days ago. Here I have it jigged up and am planing the edges to meet the desired profile. After that I planed the bottom flat as well.

Now moving on, I marked out the neck blank (I cut this one a couple years ago) for the truss rod.
Then using a mini rabbit plan and a strait edge I scribed the edges of the soon to be channel.

Drilling the anchor hole before cutting the channel, I used this forstner bit and drilled till the tip was at my desired depth. I'll come back with the Dremal later and cut the full depth of the hole that way it's flat.
(Does that make sense)?

Now on to the channel, I'm glad I sharpened my chisels this morning!

That's it for now, next I believe is to clamp the fingerboard on and drill for the nut end of the rod.
Oh and I also have to fit that anchor in place.

OH oh, the neck and fingerboard were both sourced via the trash and the truss rod came out of a squier neck that was also trash so the grand total as of now is $0
