12" Speaker Advice?

Got a Warwick 1x12 combo with a blown speaker. The amp's rating is 150 watts @ 4 ohms.

I can't seem to find any reviews of a good upgraded 12" for a bass cab. I'd like one with a punchy low end and some lower-mid definition. The amp does a half-baked tweeter. I have looked at Celestion and Eminence but not enough info available to make a decision... Oh yeah, and one that can handle a B-string well!

Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated.

search is your friend.
Measure internal volume of cabinet less any ports, bracing, drivers, etc.

Measure the dimensions of the port so you can determine the cabinet tuning.

pull up Bgavin's spreadsheet and see what fits nice in that sized/tuned cabinet.

Consider another of the same driver, and how its specs match up to others out there.

Mod the port as needed for the new driver (as needed).

The original may be the best bet, may not. $ is a factor in all things. Spending more MAY get you better performance- or not.

Search a little. There is SO much on this site alone that can help you. Searching will yield learning and then you can ask more targeted questions.

If you want to get the amp working again at minimal cost and hassle, replace it with the original speaker. As Rick pointed out, trying to outdo Warwick to improve the sound is a craphoot.

If you want something with more punch in the low end and more definition, either add an extension cabinet to the Warwick if it will run one or get a more powerful amp with a bigger cabinet and speaker. Either option will cost no more than upgrading the speaker in the end.

Get a hold of Warwick and see if they have any suggestions for a good equivalent upgrade.Or as has been suggested cube the cabinet for airspace and get as close to a match as you can.Or as suggested cube the airspace of the cabinet and find a speaker that comes as close as possible to the original.
