I have a 12" GenzBenz/Faital Pro 16ohm speaker from that I can potentially put in a GK112 Neo ii – the original speaker is shot. I'm wondering if that's a bad idea? I know it's not ideal. I'm powering the cab with a GK Fusion 500 amp (350W @ 8ohms / 500W @ 4 ohms). I mainly want to use this rig as a stage monitor, not much louder than coffee house volume.
In an effort to save money, I cheaped out and picked up the used Faital speaker instead of a new GK replacement. Unfortunately, the seller sent me a 16ohm speaker instead of the 8ohm one that I ordered. Long story short, the 8ohm is long gone and the seller gave me a full refund. So now I have the 16" Faital sitting around. I'm tempted to throw it in the cab and see what it sounds like, but I don't want to damage the amp, crossover or woofer. What's the worst that can happen?
My other option is an Eminence Beta12A 8ohm speaker that my friend offered to give me. Thoughts?
