This is a 1965 Ampeg B-15-NF Portaflex in excellent condition.
This amp is in very good shape cosmetically, and excellent shape electronically. The serial number on the amp chassis, inside of the speaker cabinet, the pot codes and the feature set all date this to mid-to-late 1965, making it one of the earlier B-15-NF's. I've owned this amp for about 15 years, and since I’ve owned it it's lived in my smoke-free practice room, except for a couple of times when I have hauled it off to a (smoke-free) studio. Engineers always smile when they see one of these...
Yes, the plexiglass Ampeg logo works just fine!
And, as you can see, the tubes glow like they should! The amp was re-tubed about 10 years ago with NOS tubes, and has had less the 25 hours of playing time since then. The transformer was also replaced at that time, so this one is good to go for a looooong time.
There is some minor pitting of the chrome face plate and back plate that is difficult to photograph. The Tolex is a bit dirty, and has a some scuffs and few small rips, too.
The dolly is still there, and so is the schematic under the amp chassis.
And speaking of the amp...
Like most B-15's of this vintage, the speaker is a 15" CTS...and it looks like the original one.
The leather handle cover for the back of the amp board that's used to lift it when the amp is locked down inside of the speaker cabinet is rotting away, though the handle is still perfectly functional. Included in the sale is a replacement handle from Fliptop.com that I never got around to installing. Also included is the original dolly and a vinyl cover for the amp.
