Details

1968 Gretsch 6072 four string bass. All original. Nice thumpy sound. it has a couple small cracks in the finish from the neck pickup going up to the neck and a little of the binding has fallen off. Overall it’s in pretty good shape for a 50-year-old bass. It has the original foam mute with the switch by the bridge to raise it up and lower it under the strings as needed. Kind of a neat innovation. It has the belt buckle pad on back. It has the original gig bag in excellent condition but the handle on the gig bag is broken on one end otherwise in excellent condition. I’ll pack it well and put it in a big Gibson explorer case to protect it for shipping. Currently has flat wounds on it. Electronics are not scratchy. I would takeoff $100 for local pick up. Located in central Missouri but I travel to Kansas City occasionally if that helps to meet up. I haven’t had it very long. It’s fun to play but I don’t really need it. Financial needs necessitate sale of this. $1,000 in clouding shipping.or $1,000 local pickup. Thanks for looking. Stay safe.

My first bass! Although mine had the weird end pin with retractable spike that also let one play it like an upright. I traded it in for my ‘73 Precision that I still own and love.

So cool to see a 6072 In the classifieds! And nice condition, too. GLWTS

Thanks. I heard some of them had an end pin to let it be played like an upright. It kind of sounds like an upright. Probably because it is a hollow body. The F holes on front are painted on and not real holes. Cuts down on feedback I would imagine.

End pin was discontinued after about 3 years. These are fun basses. I am totally eaten up w/ finding a Gretsch Bikini 6/4 --only about 50 of them tho.
