You want growl? Like, BIG growl? Geddy on steroids kinda growl? HERES your bass...
1971 Fender Jazz Bass, was originally custom color black, refinished by Pat Wilkins in a nitro ‘Sadowsky 59 burst’. Pickups, shield plates, pots, control plate, jack, body all 1971. The alder body has 2 extra screw holes from a repro white guard(included), has the post 1970 oval rout under the bridge, and the tug bar under the strings.
The neck has the original frets which are in very good shape (probably wore flats for a long time), truss rod works flawlessly, original no R tuners, string tree, nut, strap buttons, long G bridge, both covers. Serial number is 31XXXX. Case is a 72-75 no tail small R logo. The only non-original parts are the tort pickguard and tug bar, which are Fender repros.
Weight-let’s get this outta the way- is just 9 pounds, maybe a bit under, on a crappy fish scale.
Here’s what REALLY matters...this thing plays unreal, acoustically, it’s really loud(the nitro finish lets the wood really resonate), and plugged in, it will make your practice amp sound like a nutted SVT. If you wanna have the “Tom Sawyer” or “Freewill” tone- right outta the case!- this is it. And it’s an insane funk machine, both in tone and playability. The neck profile is the A width, deep around the back shape common in 71. No, it does not feel pencil-thin like a Japanese Geddy, and that’s what attracted me to it ( yeah, I’ve got some monster mitts...).
Got it listed on fleabay for more, TB price is $3100 US shipped US 48/ Canada. I will consider other locations as long as the buyers pays actual shipping/ duties/ VAT’s. Ask any questions, got lots of pics if you want to see something specific. PayPal preferred, e-transfer is ok. Will be shipped with covers off, and packed like it will be handled by gorillas.
