1979 Rickenbacker 4001 in White. This is a players bass. I've owned this bass for around 10 (EDIT- 7) years and it has served me well. Everything is original except for the pickup selector which I had to replace recently as the original stopped working. Typical Rickenbacker specs of this era. I had it signed by Death From Above 1979 (Jesse and Seb) when I met them at a local show. I have the photos somewhere that prove the signatures are legit. They were done in sharpie and could likely be removed, as they have been slowly wearing away over time.
Things of note:
- Pickguard is cracked (taped it underneith, it won't fall apart)
- Cigarette burn on headstock
- Original case has my old band logo spray painted on the outside
- Pickup cover is long gone
- Outlines on the back from previous stickers (could probably be removed with goo-gone)
I've used this bass for live shows and recording and really enjoyed it. It has the classic Rickenbacker sound and a very cool finish/players wear. White finish has aged to a nice off-white/yellow colour now. Lots of wear around the entire body/neck/headstock. Checking on the fretboard but inlays are in good shape.
I'm located in Ontario (1 hr from Toronto) and would like to sell locally if possible.
Asking $2750 US (open to reasonable offers for local buyers in CAD).
