1983 Fender Precision Elite II

My first bass was an elite II. I still have it. Pewter with a maple board. Lost the crappy fine tuners shortly after I began gigging with at as they contributed greatly to string breakage. Plays like a high end p bass. Pre-amp is interesting... Sounded great through an 800RB with an 18EV, two PAS 10's and a horn in PAS cabinets. The breeze from the 18 kept me cool on stage.

This is a great thread (for a newbie Elite II owner!).

I'm looking for some parts to complete my Elite. Found replacement fine tuners already but still in search for the (volume/tone) knobs. Any ideas where/how to find them?

Apologies for possible mis-use of this thread. Seemed to me that the Elite experts would be assembled here..

I'm not aware of anyone selling NOS parts. Probably just resort to eBay and see what comes up.

Here's a photo of my '83 Elite II:

I have Elites on my eBay radar as I have a lust for a emerald green P II. As anyone who looks for Elites, that search has been diluted with the release of the new Elites last year!
I rarely seen those knobs for sale, like maybe 1 knob in the last decade. Your best bet is to just get some knobs that work, cross your fingers and keep hunting.

After reading this thread earlier this evening, I had to get my old Elite II out and play her for a while. Even with old dead strings, she still sounded good. :bassist:

I bought my Sienna Burst/maple new and still have the original case, manual, and the bass is original with all the parts.

Nice. My first bass ever was an EliteII in Sienna with rosewood, gold hardware. Mia it a bit, as I sold it when I morphed into a jazz bass guy.

My latest aquisition:

Probably Artic White by time faded to vintage white.

It came with a thumb rest. Does anyone know if a thumbrest came with the case candy?

TonH

I bought mine new, no thumb rest in the case candy, that's a mod. Yours is awesome looking by the way, I love the aged white.

There is a walnut Precision Elite II for sale in Norway. Seems to have the original case. Looks really clean with the gold plated hardware. One Knob seems to be missing. Not sure of the value, but it sells for the equivalent of USD 1300,-. Worth it ?

Grab it now!

Check out my website: Fender Precision Elite Bass
There you can find pictures, wiring diagrams etc.

I presume the pots are 250k.

You say that the color is silver. Is there some green in the color? If so, I think the color is Pewter.

Hi.

I just bought a Elite I from 1983 in mint condition. Bud the knobs are missing the rubber. Do you know if there somwhere to buy a pair of theese?

Picking one up today. Things it's missing are preamp, original tone and volume knobs. Tuner keys, bridge, and neckplate original, and has the original pickups just not installed. Looks to be in really nice condition, arctic white that has faded. Cant wait to play it and compare to my 72 P.

Now the search for the next decade for preamp and original knobs. I'm hoping the original pots are in there, but I doubt it. I think I'll put some aggressive strings on this one as i have flats on my 72.

Any issues i should look for?

It is an Elite I. To my astonishment the guy pulls out not only the original pickups (which I knew came with it), but also the preamp out of the case! Now just looking for knobs and pots to have all original parts. Thing is mint, but the case isn't original. Adjusted the pickup height, new strings and away I went. Threw so rotosounds on it and sounds great. I have some nordstrand p bass pups I might throw in it as some point. Love that yellow faded arctic white.

Great to see this thread is still alive! That’s because Elite’s stay to be great and intersting basses!

Still looking for three original (looking) knobs. Any tip welcome

Kijk eens hier: Fender Performer Build
