A beautiful '88 handcrafted Warwick Thumb Bass NT in near mint condition. It feels so good in your hands. When I bought this bass I thought I'd never play another. Alas, times change and this bass has been largely unused for the last 10 years. I'm not getting any younger - it's time for it to come out of hiding and sing for somebody.
The guy I bought it from in 2000 had this story about the bass. I just pass it along and don't have any actual knowledge of its veracity:

I purchased the glove fitting Warwick hard case for it. It is included in the sale along with what remains of my Warwick Surface Finisher.
Currently wearing La Bella Deep Talkin' 1954 Originals Flatwound Bass Strings.

I deal with a music store in Cincinnati Ohio who has sold Warwick Basses since 1987. I am very good friends with the owner. In 1987-88 they sold more Warwick Basses than anyone in the US. Hans-Peter Wilfer presented this bass in person for the owner's accomplishment of selling the most Warwick Basses in 87-88.
The guy also emailed Hans-Peter about the bass because I wondered what the light patches of wood on the back of the body were about.
This was Hans-Peter's reply in all its German translating to English glory:
We made until today around 5 to 6,000 Basses of the Thumb bass Neckthrough in all. So your once is really from the early days. We started to show the Thumb Bass it were called in the early days the "JD" Bass in 1985 in Frankfurt.
This are very special measurements from the wood. It is the grain from the outside edges of the tree there it is getting from brown/red to white/grey. This a really special pcs. because you can be sure, it is the only Bass in this world this such typical marks on it. Besides this, your bass has "POMMERLE BUBINGA" wood what is those days very expensive and rare. So take care of your baby.
