1996 62 Fender Reissue.

I am still on my quest of finding my next bass, I just came accross this one this morning:

I am a sucker for Fender's Fiesta Red color, the owner doesn't list a lot of info, do you guys know if this is MIM, US or MIJ? Is it a good price? help:

The guys says the neck doesn't have a serial number, but he also says it's a fender neck because it's got a date stamp on the heel. He told me he thinks it's a MIJ because the serial could have been on a decal.

looks like a fake to me. The little offset contour body decal is in the wrong spot for a reissue....plus, if it doesn't have a serial number on it, it may be stolen.

Definitely not US. The US 62 RI has the stacked knobs and a grounding strip from the bridge to the bridge pickup.

There are so many things goofy here.

The three knob indicates it would be a MIJ, but the entire headstock decal looks placed incorrectly, and those tuners are for sure MIM.

Also the 62/60's reissues don't have truss adjustments at the headstocks.

that's a smashing good deal for even a fakey Fender, if I was local, i'd go play it, if it was nice, I'd buy it!

I don't understand what he means about no Serial #. Isn't that the serial right below the "Jazz Bass" on the ebay pics?

Or is that the Patent #s?

A 62 RI would have the truss rod adjuster at the heel of the neck, not the headstock. Also it wouldn't have the "skunk stripe".

250 for a decent fiesta red MIM isn't all that bad as a haggling start point. He did say he was told it was a 62 reissue, its possible he really has no idea. Seems if he was claiming he knew for sure or was trying to pull a scam he'd ask for a bit more.
