1997 Stingray bass with no toggle switch

I have a 1997 Ernie Ball MusicMan Stingray bass. It is my #1 instrument. It weighs less than eight pounds. I don't understand why every other Stingray that I see has a toggle switch. I don't need the toggle, but I don't understand why I have never seen another one like it. How do they determine if a stingray leaves the factory with or without a toggle? Did they stop putting the switches in the basses in 1997 and start back up in 1998?

Two pickup EBMMs have them, as do ones that allow you to switch coils and such within the pickup.

I think you are looking at the Sterling. They have a selector.
