Details

1999 Modulus Flea 5. This is one of the early 5 strings without a truss rod. The neck has been refinished due to clear coat greying and chipping by Jerry Dorsch, one of the Modulus founders. He also brought the relief back to original standards, so it is essentially like new. The logo came from Jerry, and is the old school Modulus logo.
This one has the Duncan pickup and 18v Bartolini pre. The previous owner had it wired to be run on 9 or 18v with the switch. I wired it 18v, so the switch is just for looks right now.
The body shows some signs of use. It has some buckle stuff on the back and some dings and dents on it. I tried to picture them as best I could. Not really anything I wouldn’t expect from a 23 year old bass, but it has its share of bumps.
The tone is great, and the no truss rod necks just feel better to me.
Comes with a case but it is not a Modulus branded case, SKB.
Shipping will prob be a lot based on distance from Vegas. Not more than $100 I wouldn’t think, and that’s East Coast maybe.

Just to clarify, yes, I will ship this, and the serial number can also be found on the butt of the neck.

Jerry does absolutely excellent work on these earlier Modulus basses. He’s performed similar corrections for me on both an early Flea and on an early Q5 with excellent cosmetic and playing results.

I happen to be in the apparent minority of Modulus enthusiasts that prefer these earlier models with their slim and extremely solid-feeling necks. I own both types, of course, but my very early Flea is perhaps my desert island Modulus.

Same here. I prefer the early necks and I’ve had Jerry work on 5 of them. I would just keep this one but I have too many black Flea basses now.
