1KHz noise on Gnome i Pro audio interface

Hi everyone,

I just recently acquired a second hand Gnome i Pro, the 280W version with the USB audio interface. From the bit of testing I did, it sounds pretty nice when used as a simple amp plugged into my old Hartke VX410. Couldn't go very high since I live in a flat, but I tried to push the master knob without playing anything, there was barely any noise heard through the cabinet.

However, I cannot get rid of a 1KHz (and then some) "digital" hiss on the input when used as an USB interface. Here's a non exhaustive list of stuff I tested :
- Power cable with and without ground lead
- Plugged into desktop computer (on the same or a different electrical circuit) or laptop on battery power
- Gnome main power on or off (the USB interface is powered via the USB)
- Couple of different USB cables
- Playing with all the knobs in front
- Playing with the ground lift
- Various softwares (Presonus, Ableton, MOD desktop, amplitube), both on Windows (ASIO4ALL) and MacOS (CoreAudio)
- Certainly other stuff but I tried so many, I honestly don't remember

Here you can see a screenshot of the spectrum, the noise is those peaks at 1Khz and the ones following it.

This was captured in MOD Desktop on a mac laptop running on battery, the gnome not plugged into power so only the USB audio part was powered via the laptop USB cable, no other cables plugged and all the knobs at zero.

It doesn't seem that bad, but whenever I try to add like an amp simulation or a fuzz or something, it becomes very very noticeable. I can kinda get around it by EQing it out, but I'm losing some tone in the bass sound :(

I'm not a big electronic engineer but I know a couple of stuff, so I'd go as far as guess this is some decoupling capacitors for the USB audio chip that are causing my problem.

So I was wondering if anyone had the same problem ? Were you able to trace or fix it ?

Well, as usual, it was much simpler than that...

I thought I had tried the front USB ports on my computer, but I apparently didn't : no 1KHz noise, so obviously the problem wasn't coming from the gnome. I tried a few other cables and ports combination, and a very short one plugged in the back of my tower works perfect.
