1st Gig Rig? What do you think of this setup?

I know some heads can sound weaker than advertised. Any experience with TC Electronics? We are a cover band that plays small to medium shows.

I bought a BQ500 as an open box from GC for $205 and I'm happy enough with it, but I haven't tried to use it in the situation you're describing; I use it with a 208 in a group with no drums. It probably has enough power to do what you want, but IMO, it would depend on what a 'medium show' means to you and exactly how loud your band plays. Whatever cab you get, it would best to get a 4-ohm box so you can get the full - "as advertised" - 500 watts.

Edit: Are you playing through something now? If so, what? What guitar amps do your band mates use? Is there any likelihood of PA support for bass? These are some pertinent questions that come to mind.

That head into any 4x10 will be very loud. I cannot imagine a situation that needs to be that loud but if you are ever wondering 'How loud will it be turned up to ten?' then you are looking at the wrong gear. Find something that is as loud as you will ever need without passing the 50% mark of it's capacity.

Keep in mind that's 500 watts at 4 ohms, so if you want the maximum output you'll need a 4 ohm cab (or two 8 ohm cabs).

And on small to medium club stages, I've never needed more than 500 (solid state watts) into 4X10; in fact that's more than enough to pin the drummer's ears back with plenty of headroom to spare.

Since the volume knob goes all the way down to zero, you're set for the most quiet nursing home gig right up to a good medium-sized loud club stage.

That's a lot of amp for the buck, has a few nice features. Looks to be Speakon *only*? Check that so you know what connectors you need for amp and cab.

Sounds good.
I use a TC RH450 into 2 1x12 cabs
and it is louder than needed.
