Double Bass 2 channel amp with phantom and useable DI

I have been using the EDB2 HE for DB blending a mic and a pickup, and when I had doubling gigs I had a few pedals for BG. Managing three channels can be a bit much sometimes. I recently purchased a Tone Dexter and will probably ditch the mic for a while (unless perhaps there is an opportunity to run it to FOH). I'm not currently playing any doubling gigs, but if I do, then I can use an open spot on the Tone Dexter for bass guitar EQ (it has 32 memory slots).

Not sure if or when I might get around to it, but I think it should be doable to make a WaveMap using a DAW for the Tone Dexter with built in compression, EQ, drive, or whatever else you want just for BG. That sounds perfect for my use case.

So your Focus is 1 channel only.? Mine is 2 channel with mic inputs. Was reconditioned before Rick passed. Good enough for Remic and and FC for DB then just use a ZIO for BG directly into the FX return when doubling on BG. EA 1X10. I have carried DB, Bag with EA and Focus and a fender jazz in one shot and walked about 30 yards , no issues. No fiddling between changes. Mute mic channel, turn off FC gain, unmute ZIO and play BG. Reverse as needed.

EQ and gain all set before hand, may engage notch for Remic of the room is bad. ZIO is EQ'ed for Fender amd has DI for that. AI DI is for DB

I have 2 other AI amps, so probably will last me for a while.
Yeah but I bypass the preamp with a 2 channel preamp. Just picked up a Felix 2 and will do the same. Straight into the effects return.

I don’t think you can get compression or drive into a wave map of the Tone Dexter. But ask the manufacturer.

You may be right. The directions I read for training it with a DAW had me thinking that anything you do to a track in a DAW would translate to the TD, but I guess compression would require manipulating the dynamic response, which is different than manipulating the frequency response. I'm not certain if the Tonedexter does both or only the later, or if simply adding compression to the track in the DAW would translate to the WaveMap well.

Since I’m fortunate enough have the Grace Designs Felix and a Headway EDB-2 H.E. ( thanks Rick Wolf) Here’s my take. Both are great preamps I use the Grace as my primary Preamp and the Headway as a backup. Using them with a powered MAS 1/8 the Grace has way more headroom, nearly twice the gain of the EDB-2 H.E. Into a 500 watt IcE power section.
