Details

Up for sale is a beautiful 2006 Warwick Katana. This is a bonafide German Warwick.

This is one of the nicest basses to ever pass through my fingers. It absolutely compares to a higher priced boutique bass. But, a nice Fender just landed in my lap, and this bass never jived with me that much, so for sale it goes.

The condition is “Very Good.” There is some very faint buckle rash on the back, and I mean very faint to the point where it is difficult to picture. The fingerboard has the slightest scuffs from play wear here or there. Other than that, it’s pristine. The frets are in extremely good shape. The neck is extremely straight and hasn’t budged in the 4 years I’ve owned it. I tried to capture the relief in a couple of pictures, it is more straight than it looks in the pictures.

Hardware appears to be original. For electronics, the original MEC were swapped for a 9v EMG active system by the previous owner. The EMG uses one fewer mounting hole than the original electronics, so the previous owner chose to move the output jack to the front and leave the side hole empty. This is all pictured.

The controls of the EMG system are Volume, Blend with center detent, and stacked Treble/Bass. It’s strung with brand new D’Addario XLs. I’ve never gigged with it, only plinked on it in my smoke free home.

I bought a luggage scale, just so I could weigh basses to sell on talkbass, and it is telling me 9.7 or 9.8 pounds. The average I got was 9.8 pounds.

Shipped and insured, CONUS, will ship in cheap gig bag inside well packed guitar box, Paypal only.

Edit for trade info***
After recently fielding a trade request, I have decided to open up for trades.

If trading for another bass guitar, I need to see at least $1k on top of your trade. If you value your bass at more than $500, then I don't want to hear about it.

I am primarily interested in Fender/Squier/FSO's at this time, but will listen to other ideas as well, I like Ibby's, inexpensive 5's maybe.

I will also trade for upright basses that are close in value to this bass. I would be willing to do cash in either direction, I would entertain uprights valued from ~$1200 to ~$3000. If you live in the New England area (assuming you don't want to ship your UR) and would want to trade your upright for this bass, let's talk. I'm thinking Kay, Englehardt, Shen, Gollihur, Upton, etc. Blondes and/or affordable hybrids to the top.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my 5 string Katana. It is the "red-headed step child" of the Warwick line up in terms of polarizing looks but one of my favorites in terms of playability. It doesn't have the typical Warwick "growl", very bright and snappy. The interesting thing is that even though it has J/J pickups mine has a P-bass thump to it. The front pickup on these is actually in the Precision pup position so it has a little more bottom end. One of the beautiful things about the oil finished Warwicks is that you can simply sand them down a little to get rid of any scratches/dents and then apply another coat of oil. Good luck with the sale man!

Slight price drop, from $1550 down to $1500. At this price, shipping is still included.

It's "rout," not "route."

If this is the bass you've been looking for, @Blackjac97 is the guy to buy from. Super-nice, straight shooter. You won't be sorry!

Any interest in a sterling by musicman 34ca in mint green with upgraded pickup to nordstrand. The preamp was also upgraded to an Aguilar opb-3 and an eq bypass switch installed.
