2015 Carvin PBJ5 in Deep Flame Aquaburst up for sale. This is an absolutely fantastic bass and the only reason I'm selling is because I have rediscovered the joy of the 4 string and with my other two 5-strings in the gigging stable (a Modulus Q5 and MM Sterling 5HH) I'm set for 5-ers and I'm looking to fortify my 4-string stock with an AVRI that I am eyeing up. So unfortunately, this one has to go.
This bass is gorgeous with it's AAAA flame top, ebony board, and abalone blocks and logo. It's also a bit of a chameleon as well in that most of the time it has a definite greenish-blue hue to it as seen in my avatar and in the "indoor pics" (as opposed to the very blue aquabursts that you see on Carvin.com). However, in a well lit live setting the bass does in fact turn bright blue as seen in the gig shots next to my Sterling HH. In any setting, the abalone blocks really make the bass pop!
This PBJ sounds amazing with the 18V active or passive PJ electronics. It will cop P, J or PJ tones faithfully in both passive or active flavors and can go from modern to vintage with the flick of a switch. The action on this bass is out of this world! Factory spec is 3/32 at the 24th fret and I have it a smidge lower than that with the current Dunlop superbrites on it. I was able to get it even lower when I had chrome flats on it.
This PB will come with a Carvin heavy duty gig bag and will be shipped to you in the original Carvin packaging. To buy this bass new would be around $1500 and an 8-10 week wait but you can have this bass in your hands in about a week or less depending on how close you are to the east coast.
Asking $1275 shipped to CONUS. Trade interest would be a MIA 4 string Jazz.
I would like to point out one thing - right behind the head stock there is a grain line and in the grain is a natural mark about 2/32nds long a 1/64th deep. It came like this from the factory and does not affect play-ability. It never bothered me but I mention it here as full disclosure for the buyer.
