Professionally and perfectly set up. Intonates wonderfully with the stock bridge and absolutely no tail lift or bubbling of the paint anywhere on this bass. Low action, plays awesome, cavity shielded along with reverse polarity pickup mod done professionally. This might be the quietest Ric 4003 out there. Zero Mod thumb rest added. Bridge cover removed (but included in case) and matching Pickguardian bridge pickup guard and plate added.

I’m the original owner, purchasing in March 2017. I picked this bass as the best playing and sounding from 3 Ric 4003s at the store. Neck shape is somewhere between my P Bass and my fretless Moollon Jazz. Perfect, if you ask me. Gorgeous figuring on the fretboard! Not a scratch or ding on this bass. I baby all of my stuff. Yes it has the push pull pot on the treble pickup tone knob for the old 4001 sound and the newer 4003 sound. Both sound fabulous.

There are a couple of very small white scuff marks on the original Ric case from rubbing against another case. I just rarely ever play this beauty. Gigged on a few songs twice just trying to find a place for it in my band. As much as I love it, it needs to be played. I will also include a truss rod tool and a stereo cable (shown) that lets you run the Ric O Sound, which, to me, is the best way to play these basses.

$1700 shipped CONUS.

Trade considerations:
Rob Allen Basses
Canadian Dingwall or NG3 5 or 6 strings
5 or 6 string fretless - Fbass or Fodera

Unofficially 9.5 pounds using the old weight with the bass and weight without. I don't know how accurate my digital scale is, but that's the ballpark. To me, it's just right. Not too heavy and not too light.

That's a tempting piece and from your description appears to be a particular winner. I've been eying the new Matte Black 4003 models but caught sight of your listing and am giving some consideration. I may soon send you a PM with another question or two about it. Regards, Andrew.

I look forward to it Andrew. If my dream bass wasn't for sale right now, no way would I let this go!

Probably going to hold onto this one for now, but here's another sound clip:
Ric 4003 on Roundabout by Auto Wow

Ric 4003 (Ric-o-Sound Lead)- Darkglass HyperLuminal (Bus #3, Blend 11:00, Time 1:00, Compression 3:00)-Darkglass Alpha Omega - Genzler Magellan 800 DI.
Ric 4003 (Ric-o-Sound Bass)- 1965 Amp B15N

My interpretation on this track. Yes, it's not perfect, but the tone is super close, especially given the old Ric rounds on it. Maybe I should put some steels on it to take it to Squire land...
