215 - My first build!!

Inspired by @Satyrnine and his 215 load I've decided to make cabinet myself. Materials are cheap, friend of mine is great at woodworking and have all the tools I need. So why not? If it turn terrible I will takeout speakers and sent them to pro builder. And it seems as so cool summer project!

I run some curves at WinIsd and this is what I got. 2 X Faital Pro 15pr400
RED - 43Hz 8ft^3
GREEN - 55Hz 6ft^3

- What do You think about both options?

But faitals can go so low setting HPF above 50Hz is just harming them.

Technicaly is there a way to produce signal lower than 41Hz on standard 4 string bass with standard tuning, without any octaves pedals etc? Another way if I pull low E note are there any sub bass sounds lower than 41Hz sending from my bass?

Question: Is this punch/bump neede? Can I just go with flat?

Question: How You get HPF for Cab? Is there a place You can buy one? Is this a pedal effect? Or You make custom HPF?

Question: If You do Custom HPF what model You use. I mean first order isnt to good I think??

I have the Fdeck HPF-Pre Series 3 and am very happy with it. Fdeck has a lot of satisfied customers here.

In real-world application, an HPF will cut out frequencies perceived as rumble or boom, leaving a cleaner overall signal and mix. It's also good insurance for your drivers. No worries about losing beef.

What do You mean aggresive HPF? What would be the roll-off of aggreasive HPF? 12db? 18db? And What If I took red cabinet and put HPF at +/50-55Hz? Getting pretty flat from 55Hz and above. I would hit 2nd harmonic of low A, low B and low E with flat.

Question1: 2nd harmonic is quieter then 1st harmonic. Any way to tell how much? Is this const like 3dB or sth?

Are You using power amp only(probably with some bass preamp?)? Dont You use any dedicated bass head? Such as power amp would be great, also for biamping. On Your amp Could You set filters on any frequency? like 42, 43, 44 Hz etc? Or is it const like 35, 80, 120 etc?

I originally had just an EdenWT400 but it wasn't powerful enough (not enough headroom) so i bought the Crown. I now use the WT400 as a preamp/EQ section.

The crown HPF is like 50, 55, 60 and then jumps to larger gaps as you go higher in frequency.

If it is below the tuning frequency of the cab, then the speakers can be damaged.

I run 24db/octave.

Playing bass you can instinctively think that you want to keep all of your lower frequencies below 50 kHz…I thought that too until I got a plugin in my DAW that let me select specific frequency bands and listen to them solo.
Below 50 kHz is muddy garbage, so HPF at 50 is a good idea IMO.
