2x 210 recommendations.

Currently using a GK NEO 212 and a GK NEO 112 with a stereo power amp.

Really liking their:
Balanced tone profile
Weight
Height/proximity to my ear
Combined SPL capability.

Not digging:
The fact that I have an imbalance in power and volume. I have to cut back on the 212 and goose the 112 to keep volume consistent, but then also be very careful with how loud i'm going to not blow the 112. I knew this going in and it was generally worked for quite a while, but has become a bit of a hassle.


So I'm considering selling these guys and moving to the venerated 2x 210 setup. Should have approximately the same volume capabilities and height/ear proximity. Looking for recommendations on new or used cabs that will maintain a balanced tone, be in the same weight ballpark and be in the same dollar value ballpark. A tall order I know.

We can rule out the Fender Rumbles and Ampeg in general (unless you know of an Ampeg cab that isn't centered around that old school warm tone)

Benefits - balanced power handling, retain preferred tonal profile, even better 'ear proximity', more output than current setup.

Plus you dont have to guess at which 210 cabs you have to buy to get the same sound you already have.

I've been pondering that as well. It's likely just too much cab for my needs and in a little hatchback like mine, space is at a premium. I don't know...might be worth it.

Try using just the 2x12 by itself, not needing to worry about the single you can push it a bit more. Might be good enough for you as you are only as strong as your weakest speaker.

I had an SWR Workingman's 4x10 some years ago, but got rid of it for a pair or Wkmn's 2x10's when I got into a smaller car that couldn't cart the bigger cab. Immediately preferred the smaller boxes - sounded just as good together, easier to load in/out despite an extra trip, and I could also just use one cab as a smaller rig.

A couple years ago I wanted to get better cabs, started looking around, and quickly found great deals on an SWR Goliath Jr. and an Acme Low B2 at the same time. Different cabs and all the potential perils that can come with that, but these had the same power rating and resistance, so I grabbed them.

So far these are working great together and I'm not looking to make any changes. Bonus points: these both turned out to be maybe 8-10 lbs. lighter than my Wkmn's cabs. Both can make great sound by themselves and I'm not thinking about getting rid of one and adding a second of the other to have a matched pair of cabs. Maybe if I did it again I'd get a matched pair, but I guess I lucked out here. So there's my story.
