2x svt410HE or svt610hlf?

Hey guys, im look to grab one of these set ups to go with my svt7pro and just wondering what your thoughts are? Not worried about the price difference, just interested in peoples opinions as I have heard a lot of people saying the HLF's are muddy and Im looking for a clear/punchy sound to cut through the live mix.

I play in a hardcore/metal band and run an Ibanez sr1205 Premium bass and Darkglass B7K with a fair amount of overdrive.

All gigs are with PA support and they vary from pub gigs to 650 cap venues

and definitely open to other brands. am just looking to get 4 ohms out of my head. currently have a orange obc410 (8ohm), just looking at other options.

Do you like the sound of your current 410? Are you finding you are lacking enough stage volume with your SVT-7 and the obc410?

The amp I have is quite nice, am looking for a bit more low end, which is why I first looked at the 610hlf
In the larger venues I am finding it hard to hear myself without the volume getting to 3 o'clock.

You have PA support to cover the room though right? You might consider a few things. Try putting your cab on a chair of something to get it closer to your ears. If you like the tone of your cab, you could add a second matching obc410. It would give you more low end capability and a significant volume increase.

I am not sure if the 610 is going to give you what you want, and while two 410he's might be a mid range hammer, I dont find them to excel at low end or with clarity which I need to hear myself.

Personally I would scrounge the classifieds for a used 15/6 or similar cab. Dont get to hung up on getting your amp to 4 Ohms. The quality/capability of your cab will have way more to do with your sound/volume than your amp.

IMHO, the SVT-HLF is the best 4X10 I have used. it kills the Hartke, and has enough for almost any room you would play. It has bottom and top range, will fit in the back of a 4 door pickup, and I use it with an SVT 3, or the old SVT or B25 head. if they had these in the 70's, I would not have had to lug an 8X10 to the giant teen center halls.

+1 don't do a 410/210, you'll toast the 210 in no time. If your present 410 isn't cutting it, it's not because it's an 8 ohm cab, just the wrong cab for you. Consider an 810, or just get your current 410 up off the floor, and closer to your ears.
