3 point strap....or other ways to prevent neckdive

I love my fender jazz, but I'm not all that big a person, and when the bass sits naturally, the neck tends to fall paralell to the ground. Then I need to reach real far to get to the money frets.

In another post I saw the Bunny Brunell bass with a 3 point strap and i'm wondering if you can get those installed on a fender. Or if some of you have other ways of coping?

I've seen older Fenders with strap buttons on the headstock...you could always give that a go if nothing else works, though you'll need a long strap.

older fenders had a button on the back of the headstock and some guys used a 3 pointer....upper bout thru the strap to the headstock


....it would probably be easy to make one up..........

i would not rely on the headstock button alone,and i would shy away from drilling holes in a bass that might be a sought after classic one day

Use the Folk Guitar method - get a long strap, thread a leather bootlace through the hole on the end and tie it round the headstock under the strings near the nut.

Else you could try routing the normal strap across the body (rather than behind it) from the bottom strap button.

Personally, I find that using a 3"+ wide strap seems to make my Precision stay where I put it, but I like my bass only slightly above parallel.

Hi,

Have you tried putting a weight on the tail end of the strap? I shouldn't think it needs to be too heavy to balance the instrument.
