3-way pickup selector + series/parallel switch

Hi everyone,

I've spent a good portion of the day trying to find/figure out how to wire up my new pickups in my jazz bass. What I want doesn't sound too complicated I think... :-)

Master Volume, Master Tone, 3-way pickup selector.

So far so good. Now in addition I want a series/parallel switch. Depending on its position the middle position of the pickup selector wires the pickups in series or parallel. An alternative would be to just bypass the 3-way switch whenever the toggle is set to series - just in case that might be easier.

I don't want a 4-way rotary because on stage it is harder to see what is currently selected.

Any chance somebody could point me in the right direction?

My Fender Fretless Jazz is wired with a 5 way, double pole switch: Off, Bridge, Both in Series, Both in Parallel, Neck. Great rock and roll tone in series, with a slight volume boost--handy way to build up a song near the end! I want to do the same to my fretted bass, but I need to dig up the schematic. Trying to raise two teenage daughters can make a guy rusty with the old soldering iron!! I will try to find a part number for that switch.

The former option is not easy to accomplish. The latter is quite simple, however.

Observe this diagram, but omit the push/pull active/passive switch.

Yeah, the 5 way lever switch is the Oak Grigsby Super Switch at stewmac.com. Lots of options, and it's actually a 4 pole switch, not two. Every other lever switch I have seen has been prewired to some extent, so options are limited. This one's a blank canvas, man. Whichever method you choose, you will love your pups in series....

BTW, what pickups did you get? Hum cancelling?
